To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

I’m always amazed when you read about people which very restrictive diets like only white bread, fish fingers and chocolate cake. They don’t seem healthy but the aren’t dead.

My best friend at school (who looking back on it was most likely autistic) would only eat fish fingers, chips and peas, or toast.
He’s now an astrophysicist.

I once ate a massive pack of nice salt and vinegar crisps one evening and omg I felt ill for days after and I love crisps and can eat tons! I felt like I had dehydrated beyond belief!

LaurieMarlow · 20/06/2019 19:07

A friend of DS’s appears to eat only coco pops and plain crisps. He’s been doing that for months and he’s not dead. Full of energy in fact.

Hmm, not sure if I should advocate or not, but I am intrigued and I suspect you’d get sick before dying of salt poisoning.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/06/2019 19:30

I should probably sort this out.

Yeah I'm already planning to buy several litres of bottled water to see me through.

I'm both looking forward to this and already craving apples.

I like your theory.

Short term I can't imagine it'll do you much harm.

Let us know how it goes!!!!

rumred · 20/06/2019 19:44

I love crisps and all things potato. Can't you just keep eating and exercise a bit more?
Memento mori...

recrudescence · 20/06/2019 19:45

I predict some of your hair will fall out.

When I was younger, I did a diet where you eat nothing but chocolate (plain, so no biscuit or anything) for 3 days. I wanted to do 5 days but, by the end of day 3, I was vomiting. I lost 4lbs but sadly, didn’t get over my chocolate addiction.

catinboots99 · 20/06/2019 20:05

Why are so many posters warning about constipation? I thought there was no better bowel lubricant than a bag of greasy potato slices

Cordyline1 · 20/06/2019 20:10

I want crisps!

Fluandseptember · 20/06/2019 20:20

I love crisps too but they are REALLY bad for you! Properly bad - much worse than you’d think and totally different from jacket potatoes. Google acrylamide and you’ll see. Also here www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3548277/ and here www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-20040631

junebirthdaygirl · 20/06/2019 20:24

When my ds went to university one of the guys he ended up sharing with arte nothing except crisps. He had no idea how to cook so just bought the big carton full of small packs..48 l think..and lived off those. He didn't die. Ds had to teach him to cook the basics, how to shop etc. Not sure if he still likes crisps. He did manage to get a 1: 1 so didn't damage his brain!!

MerryDeath · 20/06/2019 20:31

of you are anything like me crisps are the one thing i can't OD on. that's why the 150g bags are so dangerous because i eat them just like a 30g bag. then my mouth is all cut up AND STILL Blush

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 20:52

I do definitely OD in food. It's worked in the past (unplanned).

What I need to do though is really push through the week and not just stop after I feel a bit yak.
If I quit too soon then I will just be put off for a while rather than scarred for life.

Funnily, it only took one evening to get that feeling with peach schnapps... 🧐

I haven’t eaten a bag of crisps since February. I haven’t missed them, I’m on a diet and crisps have never bothered me.

But chocolate?.... I could live off chocolate for a month and not tire of it. I include two bars of chocolate in my meagre 1400 daily calories without fail.

thenightsky · 20/06/2019 21:12

I've done similar with whisky. Many years ago, soon to be DH and I had a 3 day/night whisky bender. 38 years down the line and neither of us can bear even the smell of it.

Sugaronjam · 20/06/2019 21:18

Good luck I am also a crisp addict.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 21:36

.. I could live off chocolate for a month and not tire of it. I include two bars of chocolate in my meagre 1400 daily calories without fail.

And I include crisps into my meagre diet of 1200 and have never failed. Hence why I've never been over weight.

But you have entirely missed the point of the thread.

Unless I've taken your post wrong?

I love that your approaching this how others might approach sporting goals. And I concur, you need to push through when the grimness sets in, reach for the walkers and live out my actual dream.

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 22:06

When the grimness sets in change brand and it will be like a whole new crisp experience

LovelyCocksReg · 20/06/2019 22:16

No matter how I die, I now want ‘For Science’ on my headstone.

Dieu · 20/06/2019 22:17

You are bloody nuts OP, but I love it Grin
I hope you plan to eat only Walkers ready salted, and salt & vinegar.
Snackajacks are a very poor substitute indeed.

HMBB · 20/06/2019 22:18

It sounds fab. I could live on cheese and onion for a week 😄
