To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

I too love crisps. People bring me back foreign crisps from their travels it’s that bad. I lived on them as a teenager. 5 packets a day for my lunch when they were 15p a bag. I don’t think it’ll work OP. Crisps are just too good.

Potatoes finely sliced then microwaved for 2 mins (I think) on a paper towel are actually pretty crisp like and tasty.

FancyAPint · 20/06/2019 16:59

I have crisp issues.

I once ate (about 25 or so years ago) a whole box of crisps in 3 days! and I only gave 6 away so I had 42 bags to myself Blush

I had them for breakfast, lunch and dinner all the same flavour, sadly it has stopped my crisp issues...

Passthecherrycoke · 20/06/2019 17:00

“sounds like an eating disorder. You know as well as i do that you'd be sick. Rather than bingeing and avoidance contact an eating disorder charity for some professional support.”
This can’t be serious Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/06/2019 17:01

Oooh, I'm tempted to join in, I love crisps and actually have a crisp cupboard in my house.

ourmamageddon · 20/06/2019 17:01

You sound like the same sort of person I am

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/06/2019 17:02

M&S cheese puffs.
M&S BBQ ridged crisps. I reckon I could live on only those for a while.

FancyAPint · 20/06/2019 17:02

@OP I'm not going to begrudge them crisps just because I have crisps issues

I had to, if they are in the house I WILL eat them, my rule was never have them in the house I have to buy them as I'm going to eat them (not hard as I'm always passing shops Grin

Jeezoh · 20/06/2019 17:03

It sounds like heaven to me! I love crisps so much, everything from the cheapest own brand to the finest kettle chips, I’d eat them all!

I’d start with smoky bacon Walkers for breakfast, cheese and onion Ringos for lunch then steak McCoys for dinner on the first day - sounds like a balanced diet to me, lol!

inthekitchensink · 20/06/2019 17:06

When pregnant I lived on quavers & white chocolate & multivitamins. Couldn’t keep anything else down. We seem ok but haven’t touched them in 3 years. Might work!

Usuallyinthemiddle · 20/06/2019 17:08

jeezoh we can share a multi pack. I'd eat ALL those last! Can I have the salt & vinegar please?

EvaHarknessRose · 20/06/2019 17:16

DO NOT do snackajacks I’m sure i heard rice cakes have small amounts of arsenic in them so they might actually kill you.

BusterTheBulldog · 20/06/2019 17:18

Anyone tried the M&S Katsu curry ridge crisps- amazing! I often eat a tube of Pringles (not as good as they used to be) in one sitting, ‘once you pop’ etc!

banivani · 20/06/2019 17:28

Fascinating thread and experiment 🧪 ! I look forward to the updates/vlog/book deal 😉

I live I Sweden where we don’t have small bags of crisps (well we do since maybe five years, but it still feels like a novelty to me. And it’s only a few brands and shops). Crisps are bought in 200 g bags and poured into a bowl to eat in front of the telly. It is not difficult to eat 200 g of crisps at all. How many grammes are in a small bag in the UK?

SkydivingKittyCat · 20/06/2019 17:34

Ah crisps and chocolate 😍

I tried this with chocolate once. I ate 2kg in a day and didn't even feel sick. Decided that it probably wasn't going to work...

I really want some crisps now.

IsThisSeeSawTaken · 20/06/2019 17:35

If you have crisps and mashed potato, you could do away with the drinking.

lampostmurderer · 20/06/2019 17:36

I lived on crisps nearly all of last week. I'm ok. Had a salad today and didn't enjoy it whatsoever

PlatypusPie · 20/06/2019 17:36

Was a waitress in a cafe specialising in cream teas as a teenager, Sundays and school holidays. Really excellent, fresh quality of everything. We were allowed to help ourselves to anything on our meal breaks and at first did - took me decades to go near jam, scones and especially clotted cream again.

SheChoseDown · 20/06/2019 17:37

Gosurfingsally..... Ssshhhhhh

Tana433 · 20/06/2019 17:37

Following with interest. I am on day 11 of no crisps (no chocolate or junk food either but these haven't bothered me) and MY GOD im struggling!
Im dreaming about salt and vinegar kettle chips which are my drug of choice. Please, please tell me that after doing this for a week, you have lost weight. I need to lose about 5 stone and this would definitely be a diet I could stick to! Good luck with your mission.

wiltingflower · 20/06/2019 17:38

I love crisps! My favourites are wotsits, monster munch, the ready salted chips one in a red and white pack (can't find these anymore nor know the name) and walkers cheese and onion (has to be walkers). I really want some crisps but I've taken to dieting recently and so can't 😞.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

What?! Where's the fun in that?!

Doritos with a hint of lime. Nothing could make me stop eating them.

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 18:03

Do you ever have Jamón Lays when on hols? SO GOOD

runoutofnamechanges · 20/06/2019 18:05

This is the image that cured my work colleague of her crisp habit... Apparently a bag a day for a year is the equivalent of drinking 5 litres of oil. Disclaimer: I am currently munching on a bag of marmite crisps as I type so I can't guarantee the efficacy of this method.

I spent one summer working in a fish and chip shop. People said it would put me off them. People were wrong.
