When teaching, my old headmistress who is the least woo person in the world said the kid's behaviour deteriates at full moon.
I cannot sleep well during a full moon and i believe it is evolutionary as humans gad to be more alert when predators gad good visibilty...and my goodness, there were some arseholes on the road today!
Plus more babies are born on full moon and my period coincides with it. Aubu?

Yep! I love this and totally agree! Always on moon watch on the night shift!

MoreSlidingDoors · 18/06/2019 07:11

It’s not too crazy a leap of you think about it. The gravitational pull of the moon controls the earth tides... the human body is 70% water...

The moon is too far away for its gravitational pull to have impact on an individual human body.

Any effect is likely to do with increased light at night rather than gravity.

EleanorReally · 18/06/2019 07:13

The moon controls the tides, that is pretty major

CORSACORSA · 18/06/2019 07:15

Remember your bidy has a higher volume of water and the moon controls the tide/water, so it can also control you.

bebeboeuf · 18/06/2019 07:16

I beleive in it

We are mostly water after all

My son was born on a full moon

Oliversmumsarmy · 18/06/2019 07:18

Just googled I was born on the evening of a full moon, waters broke on evening of the biggest full moon for many years when Dd was born.

Went to the hospital early and was given a room.
Dp went out to get a coffee later on and said that the coffee room was overflowing with pregnant women.

I think any woman due within a few weeks had run into the hospital to give birth that night

TopBitchoftheWitches · 18/06/2019 07:23

I have been awake all night because of that moon 🌓

PoppadomPeach · 18/06/2019 07:34

I've had no sleep because of the moon!

Wondered what was up, it all makes sense now.

notabitfit · 18/06/2019 07:35

Crank calls always went up on full moon when I worked in a call centre.

Friend who works with challenging behaviour tells me it's real- behaviour spikes in full moon.

Why do you think they used to call the mentally ill lunatics?!

SweetAsSpice · 18/06/2019 07:40

I believe!

Moondancer73 · 18/06/2019 07:58

Absolutely true. Where do you think the phrase 'lunatic' comes from?

TheGoogleMum · 18/06/2019 08:03

I slept better than normal last night (i have sleep issues) and had my baby nowhere near a full moon... Maybe it just doesn't affect me as much

EleanorReally · 18/06/2019 08:05

although hysteria also comes from hysterectomy

Happyspud · 18/06/2019 08:08

My mum works in a nursing home and always said the patients would be more restless and agitated and confused on a full moon. I personally always knew (don’t notice so much these days) when it was a full moon as I’d get this weird shallow sleep. Never knew it was a full moon until I’d have that weird sleep pattern and inevitable when I’d check next day it always was s full moon.

Branleuse · 18/06/2019 08:08

I am definitely affected by the moons phases and have always noticed that. I always feel similar to being premenstrual around the full moon whether I actually am or not. Me and my 3 children were all born either at full moon or just before. I think it gives me energy, although often nervous energy.

Bezalelle · 18/06/2019 08:29

I 100% believe that the moon affects moods and behaviour. I was in a right mood yesterday - proper furious. I ovulated as well, so hormones are raging. Good times.

RedPink · 18/06/2019 08:53

I 100% don't believe the full
Moon has any mysterious effect but a lighter night could do.

I think windy or stormy weather makes kids a bit more skittish though.

Are there any actual stats that show more babies are born on a full moon 🤷🏻‍♀️

Blastandtroph · 18/06/2019 09:12

@RedPink there was a study done in the 80s which demonstrated a positive significant correlation between a full moon and onset of labour. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support this too.

Branleuse · 18/06/2019 09:20

Its entirely possible that it effects some people more than others, in the same way that some people suffer more side effects from drugs than others. Something doesnt have to be consistent over the entire population in order for it to be real

AdobeWanKenobi · 18/06/2019 09:46

I worked with AS kids for years and there was always a marked change of behaviour at a full moon. It was noted amongst all staff.

cooliebrown · 18/06/2019 10:53

some full moons can have a dramatic effect on my mood, and also on the quality of my decision-making (usually unnecessary retail therapy till I spotted the full moon effect)

my father was dreadful when the moon was full

PCohle · 18/06/2019 11:10

But what do people think causes this apparent effect? The new moon causes spring tides too and no one seems to talk about it effect that has on the water in the human body Hmm

Branleuse · 18/06/2019 11:42

i do feel affected by the new moon too, but I dont think its as marked as the full moon

whothedaddy · 18/06/2019 11:46

The moon has such an effect on the Earth it causes the tides. Why wouldn't it have an effect on earths creatures too.
My daughter always gives us a broken nights sleep on a full moon.

Al203 · 18/06/2019 12:09

The moon is too far away for its gravitational pull to have impact on an individual human body.

That's simply not true for many people. Its pretty amazing to lie at night, with the curtains open, feeling a gentle pulling motion from the moon on skin. I get that most people will never experience this though.
