BBC journalist posts pic of daughters untidy room to twitter

Roaring with laughter at this, we have discussed doing the same thing on here when tearing our hair out at the mess teenagers make. Nicky Campbell said "It just pisses me off" and put up a picture.

Was he being unfair to his daughter? I should say his daughter did know and say it was ok to do so.

I'm just glad SM wasn't around when I was at home with my parents.

He's a public person - there are better ways to parent. The fact that she knew isn't apparent on the original tweet but only clarified after the backlash. I wouldn't have been pleased.

That's not to say that I don't understand that he is frustrated with the state of the room. I would have been too.

Loopytiles · 17/06/2019 16:26

Not great parenting!

LenoVentura · 17/06/2019 16:27

If you follow the story through, he explains that she's an artist, it's an installation, it's not her bedroom and she's not a teenager...

ssd · 17/06/2019 16:27

Ridiculous thing to do.

AldiAisleOfTat · 17/06/2019 16:28

Fucking hell, what a cunt (him not her!)

WhoWants2Know · 17/06/2019 16:28

I think some of the criticisms he's had are a bit unfair. I think it's terribly unlikely that future employers will come across it and decline to offer her employment as a result of an untidy bedroom.

stucknoue · 17/06/2019 16:28

Looks like my dd's room looked at that age! She's over 18, I think he did a good thing. (I wouldn't approve for under 18)

SoupDragon · 17/06/2019 16:31

From the article He revealed that it was actually his 21-year-old daughter's bedroom and that she agreed to have the cheeky photograph shared on Twitter.

ssd · 17/06/2019 16:32

Where did you read that bit Leno?

LenoVentura · 17/06/2019 16:35

It's on Nicky Campbell's twitter feed - the whole story, not just the bit the DM chose to pick up and wrongly run with... 🙄

happyhillock · 17/06/2019 16:37

I say good for him she's 19 not 9, maybe she'll tidy up now, one of my old bosses was sick of the state if her 18 year old daughter's bedroom after telling her umpteen times to tidy it up my boss opened her daughter's bedroom window and threw everything in the garden, she kept her bedroom tidy after that

RhiWrites · 17/06/2019 16:42

Man that twitter thread is annoying.

He moves quickly to
It’s a joke and she was in on it
She’s not even 19
It’s a comic trope.
She’s actually an artist and it’s an art installation.

Holy backpedaling Batman. It’ll be a “social experiment next”.

ScreamingValenta · 17/06/2019 16:42

Attention-seeking nonsense. Who cares what his daughter's bedroom looks like?

RaffertyFair · 17/06/2019 16:51

it's an installation, it's not her bedroom and she's not a teenage

He doesn't say it's an installation- he says shes an artist and it's a trope and she "helped with the photograph" LenoVentura

The daughter he refers to is 21 and an artist (but he does have a 19 year old as well Hmm). He says she is messy but this wasnt about shaming her - it was done with her

I think it's odd Even if all he says is true I don't get the humour

VillanellePlaysuit · 17/06/2019 16:53

I wouldn't do it to my kids

Soontobe60 · 17/06/2019 16:54

opened her daughter's bedroom window and threw everything in the garden, she kept her bedroom tidy after that
Am I your boss?.? I did this once and the funniest thing was a pair of her knickers got stuck on the phone wire that was attached to her bedroom wall outside,
Again, she too managed to keep her room relatively tidy after that.

Littlekittystops · 17/06/2019 16:59

That is a huge breach of her privacy!

Absolutely shocking. I would struggle to forgive my father if he had done this on such a public scale.

Its not a trope, he is trying to save his arse.

RomanyQueen · 17/06/2019 17:00

He's giving her free publicity, but not sure that an installation is art.
Rich Dad, you can do what you want, i suppose.

Littlekittystops · 17/06/2019 17:01

He has blown a gasket taken to twitter, probably after a few ill advised wines and done the most despicable embarrassing thing you can ever do to a teenager.

RaffertyFair · 17/06/2019 17:06

He's giving her free publicity
If it was actually about raising the profile of his artist dd, why make reference to her being nearly 19, when she is in fact 21. Particularly and he has another 3 daughters, one of whom is around that age Hmm

lololove · 17/06/2019 17:07

Is it me or is it not even really that bad...?

Cor as a teenager mine was MUCH MUCH worse!

wildone84 · 17/06/2019 17:08

At least her bed is made! It looks like my room at the moment, to be honest...

ginghamtablecloths · 17/06/2019 17:12

It is awful - both the room and the public exposure. Spare a thought for my sister. Her two sons are in their forties, still at home (but on the verge of moving out) and their rooms are very similar.

Their girlfriends have expressed a preference for neatness before they cohabit.

Greyhoundsaregreyt · 17/06/2019 17:12

Is this seriously supposed to be taken seriously as art? A pile of crap on a bedroom floor? Hmm

ghostyslovesheets · 17/06/2019 17:14

she's 19 and she was fine with it - it was a joke and she wasn't bothered - such a non story Grin Hmm
