100% labour supporter, would never vote Tory, but nor sure of your point?

dirtymopbucket · 15/06/2019 22:40

He was absent (I'll admit I don't know why). Other than that one vote his voting record has been consistently in favour of gay rights.

CharlotteFlax · 15/06/2019 22:42

Very good link by dirtymopbucket. What's your response to that, OP?

maxbabi · 15/06/2019 22:51

Wow I love his voting record.
We need a labour govt.

greenlloon · 15/06/2019 22:52

Very good link by dirtymopbucket. What's your response to that, OP? i say he missed the most important vote on gay rights in a generation he also said being gay is a choice no its not that comment in itself homophobic as it implies gay people could be strait if they wanted to.

OP posts:
Merename · 15/06/2019 22:54

Can you provide info/link on him saying being gay is a choice?

CharlotteFlax · 15/06/2019 22:54

Did you look at the link? He's clearly pro-gay rights!

Lucyccfc68 · 15/06/2019 22:58

Anyone who thinks Boris is ok needs to remember what he said about people reporting historical child sex abuse - 'spaffing money up the wall'. He's a grade A C@@t.

OP posts:
Catinthetwat · 15/06/2019 22:59

He could believe that being gay is a choice and not be homophobic though. He can still support gay rights. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Lolodizzyone · 15/06/2019 23:03

Pesky RAC! Rang them 4 hours ago, am a member and still not come. Got 2 year old and a poorly 7 year old. Just rung them and said will be another hour and a half ffs.
Friend just told me AA came out to her within 15 mins Angry wish I was with them

birdsdestiny · 15/06/2019 23:06

I am not a corbyn fan but I don't hold him responsible for the performance of the RAC .

Armadilloboss · 15/06/2019 23:07

That speech is completely for gay rights. To say he believes people choose to be gay, and using that as a negative towards him is completely taking the comment out of context!!! I’m sure he meant ‘chose to be gay’ as in chose to live an openly gay lifestyle, which is absolutely a choice. With so many people spending their lives denying their sexuality, people are now choosing to live gay lifestyles and this is a massively positive thing!

MeredithGrey1 · 15/06/2019 23:07

But even that link to the gay times includes this section

“It’s key to remember, though, that Jeremy Corbyn has been a staunch support of LGBT+ rights throughout his career.
He has repeatedly voted for equality during his time in parliament, including campaigning against the proposed banning of ‘promotion of homosexuality’ in British schools.”

I’m assuming that last bit refers to his opposition to section 28 being introduced in the first place.

I’m not a Jeremy Corbyn fan and think you can criticise him for various things but I don’t think that his record on gay rights is one of them.

Catinthetwat · 15/06/2019 23:08

“The right of people to practice what they want to practice rather than be criminalised, brutalised, and murdered just because they chose to be gay, they chose to be lesbian, they were LGBT in any form.”

This is what you're saying is homophobic?
Seriously?

OP posts:
cardibach · 15/06/2019 23:15

Whereas Boris on,y called gay men bum boys, eh OP?
This is bonkers.

greenlloon · 15/06/2019 23:18

he got 85 percent of muslims vote in 2017 and 52 percent of uk Muslims want homosexuality to be illegal the amount of homophobic votes he gets should worry him but it dosnt

OP posts:
cardibach · 15/06/2019 23:21

And where are those figures from? A bit of background would be nice.
Also, I’m pretty sure he's capable of sticking to what he believes despite some alleged homophobic votes. Those voting for him know his record and support of LGBT issues, presumably? So do t expect anything else?

birdsdestiny · 15/06/2019 23:21

I think you might be stirring op.

greenlloon · 15/06/2019 23:26

heres the source for the 52 percent of muslims believe being gay should be illegal from the guardian so im sure you liberals will be happy www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/apr/11/british-muslims-strong-sense-of-belonging-poll-homosexuality-sharia-law
and here is the source that says he got 85 percent of the muslim vote www.brin.ac.uk/religious-affiliation-and-party-choice-at-the-2017-general-election/

OP posts:
birdsdestiny · 15/06/2019 23:28

Liberals wouldn't vote for corbyn, he is Labour. You seem a bit confused.

Catinthetwat · 15/06/2019 23:30

So it's his voters who are homophobic. How is that his fault?

cardibach · 15/06/2019 23:36

I’m not a liberal, greenloon. It isn’t a generic term for people who disagree with you. I’m a socialist.
Thanks for the figures. However, since Muslims make up only around 5% of the population of the uk (I got that by working it out from this www.ons.gov.uk/aboutus/transparencyandgovernance/freedomofinformationfoi/muslimpopulationintheuk/ ) I don’t think 52% of 85% of 5% adds up to a massive pressure group...
