I do like TheyWorkForYou.

Just for amusement, a few more voting records – some folks standing for Tory leadership, some just very noisy.

Jeremy Hunt almost always voted for equal gay rights
www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/11859/jeremy_hunt/south_west_surrey/divisions?policy=826

Dominic Raab almost always voted for equal gay rights
www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/24815/dominic_raab/esher_and_walton/divisions?policy=826

Rory Stewart generally voted for equal gay rights
www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/24964/rory_stewart/penrith_and_the_border/divisions?policy=826

Jacob Rees-Mogg consistently voted against equal gay rights
www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/24926/jacob_rees-mogg/north_east_somerset/divisions?policy=826

Christopher Chope consistently voted against equal gay rights
www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/10103/christopher_chope/christchurch/divisions?policy=826

Mind you, a lot of them dodged a lot of the votes, ie didn't vote for equal gay rights. Just didn't vote against them.

Jsmith99 · 16/06/2019 00:00

On 8 Feb 2017:
Jeremy Corbyn voted to empower the Prime Minister to give notification of the United Kingdom's intention to leave the European Union.

Corbyn is. Committed, lifelong Eurosceptic. He voted for Article 50, and whipped Labour MPs to do likewise. That was the point at which he, and Labour, lost my support.

Sparklesocks · 16/06/2019 00:05

Boris is hardly the poster boy for gay rights, he called gay men ‘bumboys’ for goodness sake.

Pieceofpurplesky · 16/06/2019 00:06

Been on the gin tonight Theresa? Got some time on your hands?

PerkingFaintly · 16/06/2019 09:20

Boris is hardly the poster boy for gay rights, he called gay men ‘bumboys’ for goodness sake.

Indeed.

Maybe OP should find out more about their candidate before amplifying everything from their Facebook feed on MN.Hmm

floraloctopus · 16/06/2019 09:32

Let's look at Boris Johnsons voting record compared to Jeremy's (and for clarity, neither are politicians who would be my first or even second choice as PM)

Equal gay rights:

Boris: 9 absences, 3 votes for, 2 votes against.
Jeremy: 4 absences, 23 votes for, 0 votes against

Laws to promote equality and human rights:
Boris: 2 absences, 3 votes against, 0 votes for
Jeremy: 1 absences, 2 votes against, 12 votes for

Right to remain for EU nationals already in living in the UK:

Boris: 2 absences, 14 votes against, 2 votes for
Jeremy: 5 absences, 5 votes against, 8 votes for

measures to prevent climate change:

Boris: 5 absences, 7 votes against, 1 vote for
Jeremy: 6 absences, 4 votes against, 21 votes for

Over to you OP and Tory supporters.

BarbarianMum · 16/06/2019 09:41

Ironically one of the few things that would make me vote for Corbyn is BJ in no. 10.

floraloctopus · 16/06/2019 09:50

Ironically one of the few things that would make me vote for Corbyn is BJ in no. 10

Yes, totally.
Thanks Barbarian

slashlover · 16/06/2019 09:51

he got 85 percent of muslims vote in 2017 and 52 percent of uk Muslims want homosexuality to be illegal the amount of homophobic votes he gets should worry him but it dosnt

Maybe they voted on other policies OP?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/06/2019 10:11

I think you might be stirring op

You reckon?

Grin

Another non labour fan here....but i find these types of threads fascinating. Was just talking about it last night

Zipee · 16/06/2019 10:24

Two anti Corbyn threads, neither of which arw factually based, running at the same time.

Is the news that Boris running his no deal plan would likely trigger an election getting people rattled?

The need to spread disinformation is fascinating.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/06/2019 10:38

The need to spread disinformation is fascinating

Exactly!

PerkingFaintly · 16/06/2019 10:42

Vote Boris, get Corbyn.

Now there's a thought to terrify Tory waverers.Grin

PanteneProV · 16/06/2019 10:50

I’m no Corbyn fan but OP - you truly can’t, seriously, be trying to make a case that BJ has a better record on gay rights than Corbyn? That can’t be a position you’re actually trying to advance? The evidence is so explicitly not in your favour!

YouTheCat · 16/06/2019 10:51

So, OP, what region of Russia are you from? Grin

This thread is laughable.

manicinsomniac · 16/06/2019 10:53

The absence rate for both of them that floral posted is awful - why do they have so much time off work, they're supposed to representing their constituency?

As much as I think it's terrible that things like equal rights for gay people should even have to be a question in the 21st century, a politicians stance on this wouldn't, at this time, affect whether or not I voted for them.

The country is in such a mess at the moment that I would probably vote for a racist, sexist homophobe if they intended to stop Brexit and stop austerity cuts. It makes me sad and angry to admit that but I think it's a sign of how bad things are. Luckily I think most of the racist, sexist homophobes want both Brexit and austerity cuts so I probably won't have to make that choice!

floraloctopus · 16/06/2019 11:03

I just came across this on Twitter:

"Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband"

David Cameron, 4th May 2015.

Make of it what you will.

mycatismeowican · 16/06/2019 11:07

What's the point of the thread op? I don't think you need to remind anybody. He's in the papers most days.

CorbynsComrade · 16/06/2019 11:12

“Tank-topped bum boys” was Alexander’s reference to gay men if I’m not mistaken. But obviously Corbs is the homophobic one Hmm

BlueSkiesLies · 16/06/2019 11:14

I really dislike JC as a politician but he’s certainly got a great voting history on LGBT rights.

floraloctopus · 16/06/2019 11:19

but he’s certainly got a great voting history on LGBT rights.

All politicians should, there is no excuse for homophobia in this day and age.

NoBaggyPants · 16/06/2019 11:24

“We’re with you, we’re in solidarity with you. Your triumphs are our triumphs. Our defense of you is a defense of all of humanity,” Corbyn said.

“The right of people to practice what they want to practice rather than be criminalised, brutalised, and murdered just because they chose to be gay, they chose to be lesbian, they were LGBT in any form.”

It's a poor choice of words, but it's clear that his message (given at an LGBT event) was pro-LGBT.

PerkingFaintly · 16/06/2019 11:26

But but but floral, David Cameron's a Tory. A Tory!

They're the competent, dependable ones who know how to run a country, doncha know!

Just like a business – Sir Philip "I took the BHS pension fund" Green even told us so.

Not like these childlike lefty types, or even centrist Nu Labour and their economic boom chaos.

pointythings · 16/06/2019 11:33

Corbyn is a gigantic Lexiter twatbadger, but this attempt at a smear is so transparent I could use it to replace my windows. 0/10, OP.
