Does this type of holiday exist, is so where?

Uuurgh everything in the school holidays is so expensive. Looking for the following for a family holiday and not having much luck:
UK, preferably the south, no more than 3 hour drive from London
Swimming pool, preferably both indoor and outdoor but at least one
Some sort of kids activities and entertainment, particularly in the evening, don't mind if it's cheesy
3-4ish star accommodation - about halfway between luxury and super down-market, but was it has to be comfortable for a family of 4 (2 kids under 5)
Can be fairly humble, don't need somewhere as all singing and dancing as centre parcs
No camping
Preferably not static caravans as these seem to be very expensive anyway in the school holidays but would not totally rule them out if someone suggests a really lovely one
Budget not to exceed £1200 but preferably less

Any tried and tested recommendations greatly appreciated

I wouldn't think so from your wish list it sounds like you want centerparcs type thing.

catgirl1976 · 15/06/2019 19:03

You just described Centerparcs

catgirl1976 · 15/06/2019 19:04

Or people rate Sandyballs (I'm not making it up) like Centerparcs but more low key I believe

Ginger1982 · 15/06/2019 19:04

Ribby Hall is a slightly less Center Parcs version of Center Parcs but possibly too far away for you.

catgirl1976 · 15/06/2019 19:05

Sandyballs www.awayresorts.co.uk/sandy-balls/facilities/

BigBooBoo · 15/06/2019 19:08

Sounds like Butlins Grin

AuntieStella · 15/06/2019 19:08

Compromise and get one of the higher end caravans in one of the nicer parks.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 15/06/2019 19:08

Try Hoseasons venues. We stayed in Finlake holiday park Devon in the holidays and was quite cheap. It has both outdoor and indoor pool, a riding school and most of the chalet have private hot tubs

Beebeezed · 15/06/2019 19:10

Butlins in Bognor Regis

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/06/2019 19:10

Manor House in okehamoton? Went there twice as a child and can’t wait to take my own once they’re a bit older!! It’s really brilliant and is probably even better nowadays.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/06/2019 19:11

Just got back from centreparcs and it’s just a fake village which is as busy as a city 😄 I just do not get it. Way overpriced too!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/06/2019 19:13

Sands Resort Hotel in Newquay - more than 3 hours from London, but otherwise perfect.

chantico · 15/06/2019 19:17

Or stay at Church Farm in Bognor, and get a day pass to Butlins?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 15/06/2019 19:19

You’d be better going Eurocamp in France in a posh static.

Burpsandrustles · 15/06/2019 19:19

Duinerrll or efteling in Holland. You said no more than 3 hours drive but short ferry and drive from Dunkirk and it's so worth it. Break up journey with night in Ghent perhaps.

Not helpful but I'd save your money for something more quality assured.

Burpsandrustles · 15/06/2019 19:21

Not euro camp they're down hill.

Nearly every camp site rent out space to... euro camp or canvas or any number of operators. Usually best spots book directly with actual campsite and read reviews.

You want Potters in Norfolk!
www.pottersholidays.com/
Cheesy entertainment galore, all food included, all activities included (so though it might cost more to go, you won't spend much when there)
Accommodation is nice and it's by the sea

Spam88 · 15/06/2019 19:24

Bluestone? It's like centre parcs (I assume, never been to centre parcs) but more aimed at younger kids and most likely cheaper - not sure what prices are like in school holidays, and possibly more than 3 hours...

JemSynergy · 15/06/2019 19:26

Bunn Leisure, if you go on Facebook you can add the private rentals page and rent through an owner it is much cheaper and the caravans are much nicer!

rozzers · 15/06/2019 19:27

We're just back from Searles in Hunstanton - North Norfolk. Mainly caravans but they have cabins and lodges too - some with hot tubs. Indoor and outdoor pool plus toddler splash pool indoors, which was great. Also a park, gym and small soft play. Lots of food options on site - though not all were good. But walking distance to town and it's basically on the beach. Was a bargain for us but not sure re. Summer hols. Was so much cheaper booking direct than with Hoeseasons though.

BikeRunSki · 15/06/2019 19:27

Manor Hotel, Okdhampton possibly too far and too ££££.

WreckTangled · 15/06/2019 19:28

I was also going to suggest Church Farm in Pagham. You're close to the witterings (amazing beach), Chichester (trampolining, novium museum, cinema, cathedral), Bognor (butlins), Portsmouth (historic dockyard) etc and it has the entertainment. The have log cabins I think but they're obviously more pricey than the caravans.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 15/06/2019 19:28

@bestbefore that's a blast from the past! I played in a weekend netball tournament there when I was about 17.
Fact connect on it as a children's holiday destination I was there to drink and play netball

SummerHouse · 15/06/2019 19:29

We like winterton in Norfolk. I would cross out evening entertainment with two kids under 5 and have them in bed for 7 and enjoy relaxing evenings. I would also not try and find places with pools. There's local pools usually in larger coastal towns you can visit. All you need is a beach and crossed fingers for weather.

verliec · 15/06/2019 19:31

Tattershall Lakes in Lincolnshire? Stunning park with lots to do and beautiful lodges and high end caravans.Lots of them are private rentals, or you could use Away Resorts .
