Does this type of holiday exist, is so where?

Uuurgh everything in the school holidays is so expensive. Looking for the following for a family holiday and not having much luck:
UK, preferably the south, no more than 3 hour drive from London
Swimming pool, preferably both indoor and outdoor but at least one
Some sort of kids activities and entertainment, particularly in the evening, don't mind if it's cheesy
3-4ish star accommodation - about halfway between luxury and super down-market, but was it has to be comfortable for a family of 4 (2 kids under 5)
Can be fairly humble, don't need somewhere as all singing and dancing as centre parcs
No camping
Preferably not static caravans as these seem to be very expensive anyway in the school holidays but would not totally rule them out if someone suggests a really lovely one
Budget not to exceed £1200 but preferably less

Any tried and tested recommendations greatly appreciated

Butlins - great for that age kids if you don't mind a lot bit of cheesy entertainment Grin . Go for a gold apartment or a lodge/chalet as the basic accommodation is very basic. Both Bognor and Minehead are right by the beach.

Trecco Bay, Porthcawl has a lovely indoor swimming pool and is near a great beach. I don't know what the evening entertainment is like. (We were staying with friends nearby and paid to use it). They do lodges if you don't want a caravan. £1249 for a week in august.

KitKat1985 · 15/06/2019 21:03

Butlins at Bognor. Honestly we went last year and the kids loved it.

smallereveryday · 15/06/2019 21:23

Get a narrow boat !!! Best fun we ever had. Something different. Kids opening and closing the locks. Stuff along the way. Buy some beanpoles line and wire and fish off the roof. (License is good and cost bigger all and make crayfish risotto for supper) . Think outside the box. It was amazing.

nickymanchester · 15/06/2019 22:46

I'm another one who would recommend Butlins

MegBusset · 15/06/2019 22:51

Sandy Balls absolutely fits your bill. Basic caravan probably about £900 for the week in summer and perfectly fine. Indoor and outdoor pools, loads to do on site and nearby.

Bigorangenecklace · 15/06/2019 22:51

Oh no, don't go to manor house!!!! Activities were great, but the place is filthy!!!! They explain that you are paying for the experience not the accommodation, they warn you that it is a bit down at heel, but they don't tell you it's so dirty!

Jamhandprints · 15/06/2019 22:54

Bluestone in Tenby is amazing. Much nicer than Centre parks but similar. Normally lots cheaper but not sure about school holidays.

Hollowvictory · 15/06/2019 22:55

My children once saw manor House advertised n TV. I looked it up. my god the accommodation looked like an old folks home from The fifties. Seriously bad.

Hollowvictory · 15/06/2019 22:56

I'm afraid I'm no fan of bluestone it's like holidaying on a Barratt homes estate. The pool. Is nowhere near as good as center parcs nor the activities. However there are good beaches in the area.

bestbefore · 15/06/2019 23:39

@ZippyBungleandGeorge lol I know what you mean; they def cater to all markets at different times - I have been on a "mum" weekend which was drinks inclusive and much fun was had! Friends have taken their kids and had a great time on their 'family' breaks. I bet it hasn't changed much over the years

MisterT373 · 16/06/2019 00:48

Potters near Lowestoft might be an option.

HomeEdRocks18 · 16/06/2019 01:01

I know you said no statics but I book through www.directholidayhomes.co.uk
The owners of the statics advertise on their and you basically bypass the holiday parks making it cheaper. I booked an 8 birth top of the range caravan for a long weekend in Scarborough in high season for £200

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/06/2019 05:21

@Bigorangenecklace yikes that’s good to know!

MyDcAreMarvel · 16/06/2019 05:47

Warmwell in Sussex , all accommodation is lodges and they have deer. It’s Hoseaons

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/06/2019 05:49

Weymouth Bay Holiday Park, I know you were not keen on statics but it ticks every other box

Spandang · 16/06/2019 05:52

I second Tattershall Lakes in Lincolnshire. They’ve just opened a new indoor pool and activity area for kids too.

RicStar · 16/06/2019 06:29

If you can go last week of holidays it's often cheaper. We went to the away resorts caravan site on Mersea Island Essex coast last summer - it's small but right on beach and lovely forest park with amazing playground next door. There are a couple of other caravan sites on mersea island - one has a bigger shop / entertainment site but we loved feel of away resorts one.

MinnieMountain · 16/06/2019 06:31

Searles. Some of their caravans have hot tubs. They have evening entertainment.
I much prefer it to CP as you're not hemmed in.

ContessaIsOnADietDammit · 16/06/2019 06:33

It's not in the UK, but we go to Sunparks in Belgium for less than that (car/ferry) for 4 nights and we all love it! It has everything on your list I think....

Katyy · 16/06/2019 06:49

Torquay hotel leisure complex has a lot of what your looking for, plenty to do entertainment every night, kids clubs, indoor and outdoor pools, close to the beach mostly self service casual eating.Have a lovely time.

Beheuehyu · 16/06/2019 06:58

Loads of people I know enjoy this one www.thefoxhunterpark.co.uk/holidays/

EmrysAtticus · 16/06/2019 07:04

Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks?

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 16/06/2019 07:06

No advice to offer Op but hope you find somewhere....I detest with a passion the price hikes in the school holidays too....I get supply and demand but I also get taking the mick and penalizing people ,for that,so not unreasonable!!
