Does this type of holiday exist, is so where?

Uuurgh everything in the school holidays is so expensive. Looking for the following for a family holiday and not having much luck:
UK, preferably the south, no more than 3 hour drive from London
Swimming pool, preferably both indoor and outdoor but at least one
Some sort of kids activities and entertainment, particularly in the evening, don't mind if it's cheesy
3-4ish star accommodation - about halfway between luxury and super down-market, but was it has to be comfortable for a family of 4 (2 kids under 5)
Can be fairly humble, don't need somewhere as all singing and dancing as centre parcs
No camping
Preferably not static caravans as these seem to be very expensive anyway in the school holidays but would not totally rule them out if someone suggests a really lovely one
Budget not to exceed £1200 but preferably less

Any tried and tested recommendations greatly appreciated

Probably too far but hendra holiday park in Newquay, Cornwall is fab. They're on the sun holiday deals but I'm not sure if it's too late to book via them now.

Hollowvictory · 15/06/2019 19:32

Any European campsite. So anywhere that does eurocamp but book direct through the site not via eurocamp for better accommodation. In UK I'm struggling with both the indoor and outdoor pool.

I wish my kids went to bed at 7! More like 9 :-( hence needing stuff to do in the evening

Just got back from centreparcs and it’s just a fake village which is as busy as a city 😄 I just do not get it.

  • Delightfully crowded chain restaurants.
  • Lovely country drives for hours as you try to park.
  • Lovely country hikes back from where you parked the car.
  • That unique 'prison camp' feel to the customer service.
  • Meet new people as you que to use a swimming pool.
  • Sub-butlins chalets at french riviera prices.

How can anyone not love centerparcs?

Torquey leisure hotels, it's a group of 4 or 5 hotels. It's seen better days and their main clients seem to be elderly but there is a big push to get more family There. My kids love it.

Bluestone is good if you want a lodge type place with all the facilities. Kiln park if you what to try a caravan.

If you are going to a theme park, consider booking through them as they usually offer two days tickets for the price of one. We stayed in a few nice holidays inn type places with pools etc, kids were so exhausted form all day at a theme park followed by swimming they actually slept (one of mine has ADHD so it's impressive)

We stayed in a place near Exeter called Cofton. It’s lovely. Mainly caravan, camping and touring but sure they have holiday cottages too.

Entertainment, indoor and outdoor pools, a few play areas, walks, woodland adventure. My kids are younger but they had a ball x

Ladram Bay Devon, static caravans but right by a beautiful little beach, entertainment, pool, gym, fish and chip shop, restaurant/ on-site pub.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 15/06/2019 19:44

Have you tried Hoburn Holiday Parks - I think they are static chalets. Several venues in my area (Bournemouth).

floraloctopus · 15/06/2019 19:48

Last time I looked Bluestone was more £ than centerparcs.

transformandriseup · 15/06/2019 19:49

I would suggest Luxury Lodges Cornwall but obviously more than 3 hours from London Confused

iloveeverykindofcat1 · 15/06/2019 19:53

Sunnydaysandholidays · 15/06/2019 19:54

Hoburne in Dorset have indoor and outdoor pools and family entertainment. Definitely worth a look there.

musicislife · 15/06/2019 19:56

Hoburn Bashley, Hampshire, nice park with entertainment, pool, shop, walks, sports field, playground and good prices, you can get deals directly from private caravan owners.

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 15/06/2019 20:09

Have had some fun holidays with the kids at Darwin forest in Derbyshire, near Matlock. Lodge style accomodation, good facilities and lots to do round the area. They seem to have some deals on in July/August, depending on dates.

Snoodleberry · 15/06/2019 20:10

More than three hours from London, but definitely support the pp suggestion of Sands resort in Newquay. Really sensibly priced, can walk to a beach, can hire literally everything you might need, swimming pools, kids clubs, and run by a really lovely family.

wineoclockthanks · 15/06/2019 20:17

Hobourne Naish on the edge of the New Forest.
There are caravans but the Lodges are really nice.
But shhh, don't tell anyone otherwise it will be impossible to book.

Quartz2208 · 15/06/2019 20:17

we really like the Chine Hotel in Bournemouth - near the beach and close to Bournemouth and Poole for days out (and the beach is sandy). Has an indoor and outdoor pool and entertainment programme

Whenwillitstop1 · 15/06/2019 20:19

Cheddar woods in Somerset, its so lovely there. Roughly 3 n half hours from London. 5 star accommodation.

mememe2019 · 15/06/2019 20:23

Sounds like Center Parcs would work for you but I would go to one in france. Much cheaper and easy to get to.

But this place is fantastic -
