Does this type of holiday exist, is so where?

Uuurgh everything in the school holidays is so expensive. Looking for the following for a family holiday and not having much luck:
UK, preferably the south, no more than 3 hour drive from London
Swimming pool, preferably both indoor and outdoor but at least one
Some sort of kids activities and entertainment, particularly in the evening, don't mind if it's cheesy
3-4ish star accommodation - about halfway between luxury and super down-market, but was it has to be comfortable for a family of 4 (2 kids under 5)
Can be fairly humble, don't need somewhere as all singing and dancing as centre parcs
No camping
Preferably not static caravans as these seem to be very expensive anyway in the school holidays but would not totally rule them out if someone suggests a really lovely one
Budget not to exceed £1200 but preferably less

Any tried and tested recommendations greatly appreciated

Butlins, go for the top accommodation and premier dining if you don't fancy cooking. Minehead is lovely.

Have a look at Haven, yes it's mostly statics but they also have chalets. Lots have 2 pools and they have lots of kids activities and evening entertainment.

I was going to suggest Searles in Hunstanton..

BeanBag7 · 16/06/2019 07:38

I wouldnt recommend Church Farm, as a few others have mentioned. I mean, it's fine, but I would be pretty annoyed if I spent £1000 staying there. Theres absolutely nothing in Pagham or Bognor so you have to drive to get anywhere nice.

EvaHarknessRose · 16/06/2019 07:57

Yes I was coming on to support pp saying. Sandy Balls, its very popular

Fevertree · 16/06/2019 07:59

Have you looked at Butlins in Bognor? Sounds exactly what you're looking for

PixieDust26 · 16/06/2019 08:14

Butlins! 😁

PixieDust26 · 16/06/2019 08:16

Posted to soon.
Butlins Bognor Regis? I've only ever gone there on a day trip as close to home so don't feel like I could holiday there. We go as a big family with all the kids to Butlins Minehead yearly and we all love it 😊

WatchingTheWheels85 · 16/06/2019 08:24

Butlins minehead. Stay in a chalet (anything less is not good) and go with an open mind. We wasted so much money on holidays which the kids were bored on. They love butlins we go on three 7 night breaks a year. I think I will be sad when the kids ask to go somewhere else Grin

SerenDippitty · 16/06/2019 08:36

I was coming on to say Bluestone too

Potters in Norfolk, or Sands, just outside of Newquay

Squelchsquerch · 16/06/2019 10:58

Thank you so much everyone of all the inspiration. Funnily enough we went to the manor house hotel when I was a kid and it's definitely somewhere I'd love to take my own kids but maybe when they're a bit older.

Some of the holiday parks actually look great but my main fear about staying in a static caravan would be if there's a heatwave, would it not be completely unbearable? Or do the caravans have AC? Never stayed in one before soon I have no idea

OP posts:
Hollowvictory · 16/06/2019 11:08

No they don't have ac.

EmrysAtticus · 16/06/2019 11:09

I wouldn't plan a British holiday around the fear of a heat wave Grin

Squelchsquerch · 16/06/2019 11:16

Usually I wouldn't but I'm just thinking about last summer

A holiday with entertainment on tap for kids is going to be at a leisure complex type place. I don't think any holiday in the UK is particularly cheap. Holiday cottages are very expensive, and there's no entertainment, but you make your own, especially when the weather's good.

We did Centreparcs. Expensive for what they give you, I think, but a lot of people have lots of cash at their disposal, and Centreparcs is their upmarket static caravan at California.

If you want to holiday cheaper, you have to have a touring caravan, but that comes with it's own costs.

CatCatDog · 16/06/2019 13:00

Warmwell lodges in Dorset. Plenty of space, lots of activities, wildlife including deer in the park. It was several years ago we were there though so you'd need to check recent reviews.

crosstalk · 16/06/2019 15:59

OP If thinking of Sandy Balls do check out their swimming pools. When I was last there the outside one was tiny and the inside one was unbearable with excessive chlorine. Having said that, the statics are beautiful and shady and you can walk down through woods to the stream at the bottom. There's a couple of basic restaurants and a shop on site.

Schnitzelvonkrumb · 16/06/2019 16:21

We stayed in a caravan in france last year and weather was 25 -32°c , the caravan was fairly shaded but we spent as little time as possible in it as it was so basic ...but we weren't too hot.

Schnitzelvonkrumb · 16/06/2019 16:24

Oh no, don't go to manor house!!!! Activities were great, but the place is filthy!!!! They explain that you are paying for the experience not the accommodation, they warn you that it is a bit down at heel, but they don't tell you it's so dirty!

😱
Eeek we are booked to go later this year with family, one of whom is an uber clean-freak!

Bigorangenecklace · 16/06/2019 16:30

Schnitzelvonkrumb to be fair it was about 3 years ago that we went. It could have improved since then.
