To ask what’s your REAL favourite..

Beheuehyu · 12/06/2019 23:00

Lightheaded really but reading a few other threads was thinking about what my true favourite things (vs what I would admit) are... for example - my true favourite book is Rachel’s Holiday but if asked would probably say one of my more “high brow” favourites... ditto my real death row meal would probably involve a burger and chips but would generally say something involving sea food.

So c’min - spill - what are your ‘guilty favourites

TV-Buffy, I re-watch the whole lot occasionally. Also love Once upon a Time and Grimm.

Food-hard to choose, possibly cheesy chips with mayo and barbecue sauce or roast beef with lots of Yorkshires and gravy.

Book-probably Terry Pratchett or the Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, but I absolutely love Wuthering Heights too.

MadisonAvenue · 13/06/2019 22:23

Green Day are my absolute favourite band, although I'm very partial to Duran Duran.

Don Henley's Boys Of Summer is hands down one of the best songs ever!! I wear Wayfarers because of that song!

As for books, my favourite is To Kill A Mockingbird. It's 36 years since I first read it and I've read it countless times since. I always enjoy Carole Matthews's books too though.

I can watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off over and over again, I honestly don't know how many times I've watched it. Same with the On The Buses films.

I'd like my last meal to be a bacon and mushroom sandwich.

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 22:39

I love watching repeats of Midsomer Murders (John Nettles episodes only), New Tricks and the Joan Hickson Miss Marple series, and I'd rather watch these any day than any box sets or must-see type shows.

I also watch old Scooby Doo episodes even when the DC aren't around. I'd freely admit all this though.

Re food I've definitely eaten more iced buns in one sitting than I'd care to admit. Yum though.

Browntile · 13/06/2019 22:41

Loving the love for Rachael’s Holiday which was fab but mine would have to be Watermelon by the same author which was the first ‘not educational’ book I read after finishing my degree 20+ years ago and resparked a love of reading that will last a lifetime.

Dexterslockedintheshedagain · 13/06/2019 22:49

My fave film is The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
I adore drag queens, don't know why!

LinoleumBlownapart · 13/06/2019 23:01

My favorite books/sets are Harry Potter, Agatha Christie, the chronicles of Narnia and to Kill a Mocking Bird.

I love watching murder mysteries, I'm currently watching midsomer murders when I'm alone. Started two months ago and I'm already on season 12.

I love all other detective series, plus Scooby doo, pink panther and road runner.

My last meal would start with smoked salmon, rocket, cherry tomatoes and avocado, main would be a spicy curry, pudding Eton mess and a pile of chalk lollies, drumsticks, jelly babies, Swedish fish and various gummy sweets and then rounded off with stilton, grapes and port.

PrivateIsles · 13/06/2019 23:13

Linoleum I watched an episode of Midsomer by myself one night, when we'd been getting some work done on our house - we had no lights working and the house was in total darkness. I absolutely terrified myself but I couldn't admit it to anyone as it was "only" Midsomer Murders! Grin

MadisonAvenue · 14/06/2019 01:02

I've never read Rachel's Holiday but it's 99p on Kindle so it's just downloaded

BeaShehe · 14/06/2019 01:06

@historysock oh gosh, I was obsessed with philippa gregory! Still re-read her stuff to this day

minou123 · 14/06/2019 09:31

Also, I tell everyone my favourite song is 'stand by me'. It is a favourite song of mine, but I actually get excited when 'ice ice baby' by Vanilla Ice is on Blush

Stop collaborating and listen ....... Grin

minou123 · 14/06/2019 09:33

Stupid phone - stop collaborate and listen!

Ineedaweeinpeace · 14/06/2019 09:33

Onion bhaji sandwiches with cheese and mango chutney don’t judge till you’ve tried!!

YellowSkirt · 14/06/2019 13:36

They're not my absolute favourites but either way I don't tell everybody this: I love a nice cosy Libby Purves aga- saga and am quite the secret Nickelback fan.

Beheuehyu · 14/06/2019 17:54

@Ineedaweeinpeace that sounds absolutely delicious 🤤

Jilly Cooper OLD books, Imogen, Octavia and the like. Food - mountains of prawns and garlic... yummy! Music, love a bit of 80s chees, but clearly Adam Ant is my go-to everytime. Not guilty about that at all. At 48 I can listen and lust over what I freaking well like!!

Skyejuly · 14/06/2019 18:06

I'm quite honest so generally tell it how it is.

Vibiano · 14/06/2019 18:07

@confusedandemployed
@minou123
Can I join? My favourites are

  1. Cleo
  2. Jungle
  3. Convenience
I quote from them, no one knows what I mean when I say "nicky dooky boss" or "they've all got it in for me " My favourite carry on saying is "I've realised what I've been missing all these years....a right good booze up "
StayAChild · 14/06/2019 18:18

It's years since I read Rachel's holiday, thanks for the 99p kindle heads up MadisonAvenue

Last meal would be fish fingers, chips and beans with lashings of granary bread and thick butter, though onion bhaji sandwiches sound delish.

I would watch One Born for ever and a day, moaning about the stupid dads to be.

Beheuehyu · 14/06/2019 19:27

Have been really meh about what to eat for dinner and realised it’s because what I really want is to try an onion Bhaji sandwich

glueandstick · 14/06/2019 19:53

@Vilanelle - I too am a PoGo player. It’s my hidden secret.

Along with a love of dairy milk and Nando’s dispite being vegan.....

WeCameToDance · 14/06/2019 20:01

I don't think I have ever been embarassed about admitting my favourite things. Mind you I don't talk to many people!
Favourite film is Crimson Peak, that's probably a bit mortifying. I saw it in the cinema and have loved it since! I love the styling and how completely it steals from those it's influenced by. Dh won't watch it anymore.
Favourite tv series is Frasier. I rewatch it from the beginning all the time. I always develop a massive crush on Niles Crane whenever I watch it Blush.
I love chicken saag with boiled rice and peshwari naan. Forever my favourite meal. However grossest thing that I enjoy is probably really spicy instant noodles mixed with a tin of tuna. It is delicious.

TheDarkPassenger · 14/06/2019 20:15

I have a disgusting crush on Phil Mitchell.

I know this thread is not like that but I just felt the need to confess.

Beheuehyu · 14/06/2019 20:18

@thedarkpassenger - I feel this exactly the thread for that!

Laura221 · 14/06/2019 20:21

Wolf of wall street or friends with benefits are my favourite films. I would never admit that to any one in real life
