To ask what’s your REAL favourite..

Lightheaded really but reading a few other threads was thinking about what my true favourite things (vs what I would admit) are... for example - my true favourite book is Rachel’s Holiday but if asked would probably say one of my more “high brow” favourites... ditto my real death row meal would probably involve a burger and chips but would generally say something involving sea food.

So c’min - spill - what are your ‘guilty favourites

My secret death row meal would be fried chicken and beer. Maybe with a cheap American style hotdog with ketchup, onions and mustard! Blush

My secret favourite film is About A Boy...I fully admit it's crap and nothing really happens. It's just so comforting and 'British'. I used to watch it when I was living abroad and feeling homesick.

My secret fave song is Don Henley - the boys of summer. Sorry not sorry.

longtompot · 13/06/2019 13:15

My fave film is About Time.

I also love Marian Keyes work.

I don't really have a favourite food due to eating issues :( but one thing I loved to eat was toast with cheese triangles spread on it, some tuna and sweetcorn in mayo on top, and then a liberal application of sweet chilli sauce. I don't tend to have all the ingredients in at the same time, but when I do, delish!

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 13/06/2019 14:34

Food - steak and ale pie with really thick, rich gravy, Yorkshire puddings, proper chips, garden peas, broccoli and even more gravy.

Film is probably the Holiday but I hate Love Actually

Music - I listen to an awful lot of genres, but will always come back to the One Love album by Blue BlushGrin

Books - anything by Jilly Cooper!

ThinkPinkStink · 13/06/2019 15:25

My favourite TV shows are all crappy: ANTM, The Bachelor (US) franchise, etc.

CreakingKnees · 13/06/2019 15:28

@FudgeBrownie2019
I read Philippa Gregory's history books and love them. Obviously at book club I pretend to like actual adult books but my love for the Tudors will never die.

Me too. The only criticism i have is her over use of the word 'smoothly'
Smile

historysock · 13/06/2019 15:33

My favourite song is also Boys of Summer! I've never found anyone else that likes it especially. It doesn't go with anyone the other music I like.

I also secretly love Philippa Gregory books. They aren't super accurate but love Them anyway.

I agree with PP who mentioned salad cream as well...
But my go to comfort food is bovril on toast.

MadamMMA · 13/06/2019 15:41

My real favourite film is Clueless but only DH knows that and I’d have supernoodles and fishfingers Grin

Beheuehyu · 13/06/2019 15:42

Salad cream beats mayonnaise hands down

Rachel's holiday is amazing. I think I'm in love with Luke. But my favourite of that series is Anna's book 'Is anybody out there?' I could re-read that book forever (and probably will).

Chips and curry sauce at any time of the day is food heaven. I could also eat halloumi all day every day.

I love, and I mean LOVE, salt. Sometimes I put some salt on a plate, butter some bread and dip it in the salt. Cucumber is also a good salt dipper.

I like Keeping up with the Kardashians but pretend to my friends that I never watch it.

maimainomai · 13/06/2019 15:53

Ehm.... idk what my last meal would be. Too many lovely choices.

Guilty pleasure food: pumpernickel, cheese, mayo, tomato puree. Or mustard. A looot of all the condiments. The pumpernickel is not strictly necessary. I also adore lemon yoghurt with cola zero.

I don’t like caviar or any other kind of fish roe. Even though inhale pretended to enjoy it. (It’s a Christmas Food at my grandmother‘s. Urgh.)

Cottage cheese with chili oil is food of the Gods imo.

I used to enjoy watching Geordie shore. Poor girls.... so confused and sad. I shouldn’t have enjoyed watching that show, probably...

HippyTrails · 13/06/2019 16:04

brilliant thread, bringing me a smile.

Also love Rachel's Holiday, last meal would have to involve a huge roast dinner with cauliflower cheese & Brussel sprouts followed by some sort of cheesecake

I really love sitting in a tent in the rain, something about how cosy it is (as long as it isn't cold)

floribunda18 · 13/06/2019 16:04

My favourite food is sushi and sashimi, really good sausage rolls, Quavers and Skips. I could eat them until I made myself ill.

Favourte books - I don't know, there are too many.

What I would say though at age 43 is that I own up to what I like, I don't have a "posh" list and a "real" list, I just like what I like and that's it.

babyno5 · 13/06/2019 16:11

Oh and real favourite TV is The Real Housewives of Cheshire-my family are horrified 😂😂

BusterGonad · 13/06/2019 16:13

Favourite food fish and chips from the chip shop.
Favourite book probably Angela's Ashes or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. So funny!
My favourite tv is Holby City or casualty and I love a chick flick when I'm home alone! Blush
And I love Cadbury giant chocolate buttons!

minou123 · 13/06/2019 16:24

I love Rachel's Holiday, there is a battered copy on my bookshelf at the moment.

Can't believe I'm going to admit this, even on an anonymous forum, but I secretly enjoy watching Carry On films. I know they are sexist and in poor taste Blush

dottiedodah · 13/06/2019 17:07

I love good old steak and chips (Sirloin, medium rare, loads of mushrooms!).Fave book Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, old book ,but such wonderful suspense and thrilling atmosphere,Love 4 weddings and a funeral!.Also love Carry on films ,just so nostalgic .

Goodenough06 · 13/06/2019 18:24

@historysock we must be kindred spirits! It's SUCH a good song. It makes feel happy and nostalgic and summery all at the same time. I literally sing my heart out when I hear it...but just like you, nothing like my usual taste in music.

goingonabearhunt1 · 13/06/2019 18:42

I love loads of crappy things (terrible horror films and their sequels, cheesy teen shows from the 90s/early 2000s, rom-coms) but I'm not ashamed Grin I also loved childish things like stuffed toys, stickers and dolls houses-still not ashamed.

goingonabearhunt1 · 13/06/2019 18:44

I think the grossest thing I've ever done food-wise is eat an entire pot of Betty Crocker icing. Oh and I've eaten an entire jar of Biscoff before as well Blush

MissingDietCoke · 13/06/2019 20:02

My absolute favourite book on the whole wide world is Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer. I read it first as a teenager and talked about it in English class and the teacher absolutely ripped into me for reading rubbish and I was ashamed of it for years.
Now I couldn't care less, recommend it to all and sundry. On my third copy now as the others fell apart, still makes me cry even though I know it word for word practically! Story telling at its finest. Hmmm might be ready for another read actually!

DogHasEatenTheSqueaker · 13/06/2019 20:18

Archers and lemonade. Walkers cheese and onion crisp sandwich. Mr Kipling Bakewell tart.

May or may not have been my dinner. Everyone else had stir fry. Sucks for them.

WhiteRedRose · 13/06/2019 20:22

Harry Potter and the Northern Lights trilogy. I never talk about them much but those books saved me in senior school and as a young adult gave me something to cling on to when not much else felt within reach.

I am a huge fantasy fiction nerd 🙈 but they are my absolute favourites always.

confusedandemployed · 13/06/2019 20:31

@minou123 I'm a Carry On fan too. Actually, I'm a bit of a Carry On-aholic. I love watching them at any time, but my particular faves for a rainy or hungover Sunday are Matron, Convenience and Behind.

Favourite food, God so many to choose from. My comfort food of choose is pasta tossed in olive oil and about a ton of salt, grated cheddar on top then melted. Orgasmic.

ToPlanZ · 13/06/2019 20:41

If I was on death row it would have to be a cheese and onion crisp sandwich, on soft white bread. With full sugar coke. Then a cubic yard of ice cream. All eaten while binge watching all of Sandra Bullocks finest works, and you know I'm not talking about Gravity or The Blindside.

I mean if I ate that I'd die of heartburn anyway so at least I'd save someone a job.

minou123 · 13/06/2019 21:24

confusedandemployed thank goodness I'm not the only one. I do like Camping and Matron as well
