Lightheaded really but reading a few other threads was thinking about what my true favourite things (vs what I would admit) are... for example - my true favourite book is Rachel’s Holiday but if asked would probably say one of my more “high brow” favourites... ditto my real death row meal would probably involve a burger and chips but would generally say something involving sea food.

So c’min - spill - what are your ‘guilty favourites

My last meal would be a crusty white loaf, butter and strawberry jam. I'd work my way through the whole loaf and it wouldn't matter about the carbs, saturated fat and sugar!

I went to film school and studied 'foreign art house' films. But my favourite viewing currently binge watching Vanderpump Rules when my DJ goes to bed having finished Shahs of Sunset.

Trooperslaneagain · 13/06/2019 11:33

I had the best meal of my life yesterday.

In a naice cafe however - they've embraced the street food hipster thing and are doing chips and cheese and chilli.

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven with a numb face because I'm a chilli woos

My favourite type of rock is Gneiss.

Moving on to punctuation, I must prefer a colon to a semi-colon, but the French circonflexe really pleases me, much more than say the cedilla or the accent grave.

I much prefer cats to look regal, but not to the extent it comes across as being forced or pompous. Panthers I find tend to be better at that than tigers.

KnobJockey · 13/06/2019 11:38

I do love Rachels Holiday, but Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married is my comfort book.

PineappleTits · 13/06/2019 11:42

Microwave curry and chips drowned in vinegar and covered in cheese Smile

tearinmybeer · 13/06/2019 11:45

I love plush toys and I would fill a house with ones my size if I could but I'd never get laid again

tearinmybeer · 13/06/2019 11:45

I'm not even sure that was relevant to the topic but have it.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 13/06/2019 11:51

Who wrote Rachel’s Holiday? (Asking for a friend Grin )

Saffy101 · 13/06/2019 11:56

Hands down favourite book, Cutting For Stone, food, Steak, mushrooms and chips with gravy on them - followed by home made eton mess with lashins of extra cream. Band...I have seen soooo many but the best gig was The Who many years ago.

51Pegasusb · 13/06/2019 12:02

Marian Keyes wrote Rachel's Holiday and it is indeed fantastic, as are the other books relating to the Walsh family.

My favourite book is Moon Rise by Ben Bova, and then pretty much his entire Grand Tour series, I love them I'm odd I know but his writing is brilliant. Very closely followed by Good Omens, Neverwhere and anything else written by Neil Gaiman.

Roast beef and yorkshires and then some mint chocolate would be my last meal.
Music- I love ELO and The Jam..

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 13/06/2019 12:03

Film- zombie land, 2nd favourite is pulp fiction so tend to tell people that.
I love love island, get a bit upset when we have plans and I miss an episode.
Food- a fry up from a proper builders cafe

Amanduh · 13/06/2019 12:04

I love McDonalds and Taylor Swift.

Vilanelle · 13/06/2019 12:08

I still play Pokemon Go but don't tell anyone. Sometimes I go out on my lunch break looking for Pokemon, I am 37.

My favourite meal is chicken kiev with cheesy chips and mayonnaise.

managedmis · 13/06/2019 12:08

James Herriot and beans on toast here.

Lweji · 13/06/2019 12:11

My favourite book is my username.
Favourite meal is stewed broad beans.
I'm currently addicted to corn cakes.
Favourite band is Greenday.

I don't think I've ever pretended otherwise in relation to any of those.

PigletJohn · 13/06/2019 12:28

I don't know about favourite, but I really like roast breast of lamb.

It is so fatty that I won't do it now.

It was the first Sunday lunch I cooked after buying my first house, and the cornershop butcher suggested it as cheap and tasty.

Beheuehyu · 13/06/2019 12:36

@Vilanelle your hobby combined with your username has made me really chuckle (will never see her in quite the same light now).

Salad cream is far better than mayonniase or any other dressing. Especially on sandwiches. Fact

Amibeingnaive · 13/06/2019 12:47

My real favourite book is Kill your Friends by John Niven

My real favourite meal is a chicken dhansak and a can of 7up

My real favourite film is I Give it a Year

But I don't think I've ever claimed otherwise, in my defence.

My tastes are very lowbrow 😄

Amibeingnaive · 13/06/2019 12:47

And I fucking LOVE Love Island.

Buddyelf · 13/06/2019 12:49

Great thread.
I'm a total magpie, anything shiny or better still covered in glitter and I'm happy (not with sequins though - don't like sequins).
I'm never happier than when I have acrylic nails done. I feel like I can do anything, I wouldn't admit IRL, I think people would think I'm a bit sad, but I do.
I love Disney anything, I'm 34 and will happily watch a Disney film by myself.
I think about Christmas all year. Its my favourite time. I pretend like I don't think about it until October but I watched 2 Christmas films last week when no one was in and had my alexa playing christmas tunes yesterday while I unloaded the dishwasher. Gives me joy.

Amibeingnaive · 13/06/2019 13:01

Oh and I wear leopard print EVERY DAY.

Vilanelle · 13/06/2019 13:04

@Beheuehyu Pmsl! I like the idea of Pokemon Go being her guilty pleasure :')
