Just that really. What's the best thing you've ever won through a competition? & worst?

Some Holly Willoughby for Very dresses
The full set of Harajuku Girls perfume
A Ghost perfume
A Nars Lipstick
Chanel mascara
A holiday in Cornwall

I do comp though when I'm bored. Mostly retweet ones as it's so easy to do.

@crustycrab My Dad thought it was a Scam, so dialled 1471 and rung the woman back and she confirmed & told him to check the ITV website!
He's gutted he's never on the "winners" adverts, but was life changing for them Smile

One year scholarship to uni, including the cost of books! I hated school and desperately wanted to leave school a year early to go to university instead. That allowed me to do it. It was utterly brilliant. Years later I wondered whether the competition was rigged. It was a very small institution, where the person judging the essay contest happened to have taught me and liked me quite a lot. She may even have dreamed up the competition itself. The competition was a one-off that year. The criteria matched my situation remarkably well, and there weren't many applicants.

The worst thing I ever won was also probably rigged! I used to take my disabled kid into a charity shop where all the staff fussed her. They had a competition to "guess the name of the stuffed rabbit". The bunny was enormous and there was definitely not enough space for it in our house, but that was okay, because there was no way we would win it since there were hundreds of other entrants. I was more than happy to enter the competition for a pound, however, as it would be a bit of fun and my money would go to the charity. My child came up with an implausible name for the bunny, so that was even better.

Three weeks later we had the phone call. Unfortunately dh took the call: if I'd taken it, I could have quietly told them to give it to the runner-up. But no, he excitedly told dd that she was the proud owner of Hoppity Squashity Longears. Little did he know that the bunny was bigger than our child.

A hair care set from an influencer. That's ok though, I don't do the lottery and get lots of goodies through work.

I've only ever won one thing and that was through Facebook last September, it was an item of my choice from the Seasalt website. As I don't own a car I chose a Janelle Coat in navy worth £150 which has been an absolute godsend when I have to walk anywhere with the pushchair in the rain! So well made so will last me forever too Smile

£5000 from ITV. I've also won £1000 from Heart fm, make up, clothes, toys, vouchers etc. I've been doing competitions for about 12 years now and it's always a buzz to win.

Return flights for 2 to Japan, 5 nights accommodation, plus ninja training classes!

I won it in a competition for the release of the Wolverine movie.

A Harley Davidson Sportster (took the money instead), £5,300 cash back on my credit card and a trip for two to Brazil.

I found an email in my spam folder tonight telling me I have won a runner up prize in a National Book Token competition. Have sent my details and now can’t find the email so have no idea what will arrive. Feeling rather excited!

I won a free nursery place for DD a year.

If you want to read a lovely book about entering competitions, "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less" by Terry Ryan is a fabulous, uplifting account.

Oh I second that. I read that book years ago and it was lovely!
