Just that really. What's the best thing you've ever won through a competition? & worst?

*Footle it was a Bliss spinning wheel, been out about six years now. Lovely and modern looking, very easy to use. I love mine!

Missljbeauty · 11/06/2019 18:23

Huge Samsung tv and cat food ( it was a dog competition)

bridgetreilly · 11/06/2019 18:27

Sewing machine. Spa weekend. Light box.

Best was a wonderful golden Raleigh 20 bicycle, complete with bell and a panier on the back. This was when I was 9. We won this from the local shoe shop - Peter Lord.

Worst was a few weeks ago - a really horrible ugly Chinese tea caddy.

A holiday to Tenerife with flights in McDonalds Monopoly!

Afternooninthepark · 11/06/2019 18:37

I won a trip on the Orient Express when I was younger, I sold it to my parents as I was going to Florida that year and needed spending money 😄

speakout · 11/06/2019 18:38

A meet and greet with Will Young! Not one of these big group meet and greets, just me and my mum alone with Will in his dressing room!

Jason118 · 11/06/2019 18:41

My wife's heart, too many years ago to remember.

StCharlotte · 11/06/2019 18:43

Afternooninthepark DH won a trip on the Orient Express. It was lovely.

Flooring for my sons bedroom, a £100 hair voucher, 2 tickets to Christine and the queens and two tickets to chemical brothers all won in May.

Previously won a rear facing car seat worth £300. 4 years on and it's still fantastic!

Namechangeforthegamechange · 11/06/2019 18:50

I was gong to post nothing but reading through I’ve remembered! An electric toothbrush from netmums, £680 on jackpot joy, they were phoning me for weeks and I thought it was a scam but they just needed address to send a cheque 🤣 a blackberry on a radio comp, a meal for 2 on another (still cost £45!) my first win was a cake in primary school, guess the weight thing. Oh and I’m winning Euro millions tonight 🤣

Grumblepants · 11/06/2019 18:54

When I was unable to work due to an accident I entered every competition in take a break and that's life magazines every week for 3 years and didn't win a bean!
That's a shed load of competitions.
I'm quite an unlucky person.

CrowleysBentley · 11/06/2019 18:57

Best either a huge TV, £500 amazon voucher or a Ted Baker handbag with loads of lovely beauty products (Eve Lom, Darphin etc) and 6 months supply of imedeen.

Worst was probably a terribly dull thriller book. Must have been a runner up prize.

I used to do quite a lot of online competitions it was something to do in the evenings when my kids were little, they are now 18 and 20. Back then it was all comping newsgroups and irc chat channels. I might give it a go again, I did a few here and there early last year and won a kindle paperwhite, a big bundle of scentscy burner and wax melts and a few other nice little things.

2 nights plus treatments/meals at Champneys Spa - lovely

Also a Kenwood Chef - still going strong after 30 years (!)

HollowTalk · 11/06/2019 19:01

I had a temp job working for the company that supplied Daim bars. When a customer wrote in complaining about the quality of her Daim bar Grin I would have to write a letter of apology and send another bar back. I was only there a week or two and started sending loads and loads of bars to the complainers - stuffing a big jiffy envelope full of them. So if you received a big envelope full of Daim bars in the 80s, say thank you!

YoThePussy · 11/06/2019 19:09

£1000 on an online survey. It paid for a week away for my 50th birthday with my DM and DSis.

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 11/06/2019 19:14

I've only ever won one thing. A lava lamp.

Leeds2 · 11/06/2019 19:26

The thing I've won that I like most is a (very) cheap plastic cow that lives in the fridge and moos when you open the door!
Remember winning tickets to a Michael Jackson concert at Wembley, I think with Pepsi. Six bottles of wine, an Italian cookbook and a Jacques Vert dress is probably about the sum total.
One thing I have always wondered, when the prize is a years supply of shampoo, washing powder, yogurt, cornflakes etc, how much do you actually get?

wizzler · 11/06/2019 19:28

I won a holiday on mumsnet. Robby hall , we had a wonderful time

kelly14 · 11/06/2019 19:31

Was in Dubai visiting parents and I lived in oz at the time. Won a holiday to the Maldives for 2. Gave it to parents as it was from Dubai. They extended their trip and upgraded etc and have gone many more times since as loved it so much.

tiggerbounce77 · 11/06/2019 19:38

I won a Facebook competition, the prize was tickets to enter a petting zoo type place where we go on holiday, the day we went they had a dance dress competition which my daughter won, the prize included a family ticket to return the following season, when we went back it was fancy dress day again and my daughter won it again, you guessed it, return tickets for the following season!

elephantoverthehill · 11/06/2019 19:41

A Blue Peter badge, for 'Design Val a dress competition'. I was about 5 or 6, I didn't even know Dm had posted off my design. I can brag about that one Grin

jitterbugintomybrain · 11/06/2019 19:49
