Just that really. What's the best thing you've ever won through a competition? & worst?

@Scoleah I've never heard of a real life person winning an itv comp!

Where are you all entering?

AngelsWithSilverWings · 11/06/2019 12:23

Husband once won £12k on a tv quiz show. We also won a holiday to LA on a Virgin Radio competition.

BurntSausage · 11/06/2019 12:35

Not a fat lot. When I was at primary school I remember having the number 147 in my head all day, so at the summer fair that afternoon I guessed there were 147 somethings in a jar and I won a teddy as big as me. My mom wasn’t thrilled and it went to charity pretty soon after that. The grown up me can sympathise with her 😁

FrenchyQ · 11/06/2019 12:37

I won 26k on an online slot last year.
Worst was probably some childproofing cupboard locks on a tombola

VictoriaBun · 11/06/2019 12:41

Best - a spa day with an evening meal ,room and breakfast the next morning, only downer dh was being a miserable git , we spent the evening after the meal watching tv in the room and had an early night !
Worse - a raffle and won a box of Matchmakers. Opened them up and they were wet and slimy.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/06/2019 12:42

I’ve actually won 2 makeovers.
One in Just 17 magazine when I was at school. I was mobbed at school when the issue came out.
Also another on handbag.com in the early 2000’s

Limpshade · 11/06/2019 12:43

Not me, but my mum once won us all tickets to a special event at Alton Towers via local radio. I was ecstatic as I got to meet my hero, Paul Daniels Grin

I don't seem to have much luck myself. The only win that springs to mind was a free glass of wine at a drunken bingo night. I'm hoping that means my big win is yet to come!

2strands · 11/06/2019 12:48

I won a £300 ikea voucher from here.

lhw92 · 11/06/2019 12:48

£20 voucher for completing a university students survey. They posted on Mumsnet to recruit for participants
I didnt complete it for the voucher, I was genuinely interested in being a part of their research (it was regarding feminism) Smile

I’ve never won anything else really

Pinkarsedfly · 11/06/2019 12:53

A giant carebear.

DrCoconut · 11/06/2019 12:59

A grimms giant rainbow. It takes up half of DS2's room Grin

anitagreen · 11/06/2019 12:59

Just spent the past hour entering tons of comps again in the hope I win something Grin

ispepsiok · 11/06/2019 13:03

£1000 at bingo just before we went on holiday a few years back and more recently a Skiing holiday that I couldn't go on as I damaged my spine in a car accident 🙄 sent DH and his mate instead and they had an awesome time!

HedgehogStew · 11/06/2019 13:06

I won a pet cam and a £20 voucher from Pets at Home after my pet snake was featured in their 25th anniversary video. The same snake has also had his picture printed in the VIP magazine and in Real People magazine. I got £25 for a snap of him in a miniature top hat (This was a few years ago when snakes in hats were all the rage.) More recently I won a hedgehog bundle worth £50 for some artwork I painted during hedgehog awareness week.

The worse prize I ever won was a Halloween mask which was a vampire face printed on tight material that seemed more suitable for robbing banks.

HedgehogStew · 11/06/2019 13:11

When we were kids my parents won a large cuddly Weetabix man at the grand opening of our local Tesco. He used to sit in the back seat of the car between me and my brother.

cooliebrown · 11/06/2019 13:14

holiday for 4 in Ibiza

scorpio32 · 11/06/2019 13:22

I was at a fancy charity event which had the usual raffle.

At the start of the raffle Jeremy Beadle uttered these immortal words: 'This year we're going to do the draw in reverse order, so last prize first. Does anyone have any objections?'

No-one said anything, my ticket was first out, and I won a bicycle, instead of a brand new mini.

I was gutted.

The bike was stolen a month later.

notmylittleangel · 11/06/2019 14:03

virgin flight on a radio station

Footle · 11/06/2019 15:13

@student26 , what wheel was it?Are you still using it? Lucky lucky person.

MuddyMoose · 11/06/2019 15:32

@toriathet - where do you enter your competitions?

OP posts:
hennaoj · 11/06/2019 15:49

A few best prizes here:

iCandy Jogger pushchair (a year before they were sold to the public so we were given a prototype first then the real one 6 months later). My baby threw up on the pram apron of the prototype so I washed it in the washing machine as per instructions and the internal filling disintegrated.

Maxi Cosi 2-way pearl car seat (not great for a very tall child though!)

Stokke Steps High chair

Tickets to Geronmino fest.

gotmychocolateimgood · 11/06/2019 15:57
