I’ve never done a fun run before and am doing one with my son . I haven’t got any trainers and don’t want to buy any especially for this . I already will need to buy some sports trousers and a top . I do have crocs but would that be suitable ?

No, you will get blisters on inside of your feet above arches - take it from an all-terrain Crocs user. Get some trainers.

NannyR · 10/06/2019 20:07

I would prioritise trainers over sports clothes. I would be concerned about my feet slipping out of crocs, I think you need something a bit more securely attached to your feet.

captaincorellisvaseline · 10/06/2019 20:07

I can't imagine running in Crocs! If you really feel you don't want to buy them, could you borrow a pair of trainers from a friend? Or even grab a pair at a charity shop?

Normally for running a decent pair of shoes is important but tbh anything is likely to be better than Crocs!

Villanellesproudmum · 10/06/2019 20:08

No! Accident waiting to happen.

OhMsBeliever · 10/06/2019 20:09

No! You need trainers. Not even really decent trainers. I would go to Primark and pick out their cheap sports clothes (or even just wear leggings and a t-shirt) and some trainers.

LolaSmiles · 10/06/2019 20:10

Not a chance. It's an accident waiting to happen.

I'd prioritise having a pair of trainers rather than sports clothes.

GirlAtWork · 10/06/2019 20:10

Not remotely. Go to primary and buy some cheap trainers.

Teacakeandalatte · 10/06/2019 20:10

Buy some trainers! You dont need fancy running shoes for a fun run though. Get some stuff that will be useful all summer if you are short of money. This type of clothing will be good for taking your ds on activities and walks.

GirlAtWork · 10/06/2019 20:11

*primark

Daffodil2018 · 10/06/2019 20:14

You’ll need trainers, and a sports bra too. I think they give you a white T shirt at the start of the race.

Itellpeopletogoogleit · 10/06/2019 20:15

Are you on crack?

noodledoodler · 10/06/2019 20:16

Never mind your feet, if your hair is coloured, cover it, especially if blonde!!!!!!!

Didntwanttochangemyname · 10/06/2019 20:18

I can't believe anyone would even consider running in crocs!?

Politicalacuityisathing · 10/06/2019 20:18

Depends how far/ how fast you think you'll go/What kind of terrain etc If you're not proper running and more of a fast walk over not too long then it wouldn't be a disaster. But pretty much any comfortable trainers are going to be better than crocs.

PickAChew · 10/06/2019 20:21

No. Crocs slop about and pierce easily if you step on something sharp. Even basic £20-30 trainers would be better.

Antigon · 10/06/2019 20:21

Primark do running trainers for £14, often reduced to £7.

tigerseye10 · 10/06/2019 20:22

I'm not sure you'd be allowed to run in crocs... they are not secure around your feet so are likely to be considered a H&S risk, same as running in heels would be.

You can get cheap trainers for under £10 and surely you would use them again? Confused

SummerHouse · 10/06/2019 20:25

I just did a colour run. I wish I had worn crocs. I don't think people realise this is more of walk / jog and not about running for the majority of people doing it. Crocs are good because you can just rinse them off. Anyone would think you were asking about a marathon.

Toombumber · 10/06/2019 20:26

For Colour Run, wear some very old clothes. And definitely trainers.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 10/06/2019 20:28

Sorry what??? Crocs are probably the least appriote (and probably most dangerous) shoes to run in. You dont want to buy trainers sorry you cant do the run then!!

Running in crocs is possiably the stupidest idea ever! They give very little support generally and are made of shit plastic rubber which will cause your feet to sweat and swell. (I know they do that ant way in trainers) they have very littke grip unlike trainers that are well designed for running.

I wouldnt have given you such short shrift but you don't want to buy trainers a rather essential part of running because you want to buy clothes.

Shoe zone or primark trainers will do for a fun run.

Priorities! Trainers first. Borrow some tracksuit trousers if you cant afford both trainers and sports trousers.

stucknoue · 10/06/2019 20:30

Nip in a charity shop or supermarket - primark has plimsolls for £4 currently

starsparkle08 · 10/06/2019 20:30

I will try to find some cheap trainers .
Thanks everyone . I was thinking with the crocs they would be easy to wash off afterwards too .

Does the colour come out of things ok ?

Makes your priorities even more bizarree

stucknoue · 10/06/2019 20:32
