My friend commented that it's been 5 years since Rik Mayall died and my first thought was "had he died?" 🤤 I'd completely forgotten.

I misread that as a Gene Hackman and got upset!

Caroline Aherne. She died days after/before the great Victoria Wood and Prince. What a week that was, didn't know who to grieve for first.

This thread is depressong as hell. I didn't know several were dead, and the ones I did know are ones I really hate being gone.

Except Whitney bloody Houston. The shop I worked in played her greatest hits about 6 times a day for a year. I never loathed anyone famous as much as I loathed her for those ear worms. I mean, anyone being dead is sad, but at least she isn't making more godawful music.

Double checked with DH next to me and he said yep. And now i star to very very vaguely remember it. So many in such a short time :(

For me it’s Ron Moody (I just had to check he was dead before posting this). I think it’s because my husband was always convinced he’d died before he had. I got so used to saying “no he’s still alive” that I forget he’s not any more.

(I’ve just realised how odd it is that we’ve had so many conversations about Ron Moody in my house!)

I had forgotten about Jeremy Beadle until I saw his grave at Highgate Cemetery a few years back. I was genuinely gobsmacked. Same with Douglas Adams.

Patrick Swayze. That always makes me sad when I remember.

Pete Postlethwaite, saw him on something recently and had to check if he was still alive or not. The answer was - not.

I'd forgotten Margaret John has died until they announced there will be a Gavin and Stacey special this Christmas and my DH wondered how they'd deal with Doris not being around anymore. Shouldn't be a surprise as she was old, but she'd been old forever it felt!

Michael Barrymore was on TV at the weekend and I thought “hold on, isn’t he dead?”
