Moving the May Bank Holiday. Will this cause you inconvenience?

I work Mondays. I am still paid for the Bank Holidays. I don’t work Fridays. I have already made my holiday arrangements around child care for 2020 and now unless I can take a day off unpaid my plans are now up the creek. Also my job involves a diary of clients that book up almost a year in advance so this will now also need to be sorted.
Not a happy bunny, this should have been announced at least a year in advance for people accommodate. Angry

I just don’t understand why use an existing BH and take it to celebrate something else. I dont think there are enough BH as it it.

My own highly cynical take on this...

They don't want to make the additional BH too frequent.

There was an additional one for each of the previous 2 Jubilees (2002 and 2012), and the Royal Wedding (11).

There is the next Jubilee - 2022. Or the Queen's funeral, and the subsequent Coronation. They can split these over two years if they're 'lucky', but there's a 100% certainty that one of those three events will happen by 2022. Either the Queen will die, or she'll make it to the Jubilee.
