To wish that a Stranger would give me unsolicited advice

254 replies

Jemima232 · 08/06/2019 12:02

Having read a lot of threads this morning about HVs, retired dentists and Random Strangers giving unwanted advice about fizzy drinks, I am devastated that this has never happened to me.

Why have I been Left Out?

@Vio112

Absolutely bloody typical of a chav, yes.

But are you sure he is a chav?

Jemima, McVicar is gorgeous but I think he's got his paws on your phone. I strongly advise you to only let him play with it when it's on sleep mode.

Jemima232 · 10/06/2019 20:37

Bah!

How did that happen?

The cat was elsewhere.

I am sorry for all of those repeat posts and I do not know how they occurred?

Fookin ell @Jemima323
Are you drunk? or do you just have an over excited send button?

SingingLily · 10/06/2019 20:48

😂The cat has an alibi??

WhiteLightTrainWreck · 10/06/2019 22:00

I feel like I have missed so much in such a short space of time!! I feel I spend too much time cleaning than on mumsnet, I last read when we were in prison kitchens, they are very interesting places, but not very comfortable!

Jemima232 · 10/06/2019 23:00

The cat has a definite alibi.

I will defend the cat till the end of my days.

McVicar is innocent.

She will not end up in a prison kitchen.

Erm I jumped to the end of the thread to comment I have resting bitch face and noone ever offers advice

To be faced with a cat on probation at risk of handcuffs

I'm very confused Grin

Jemima232 · 10/06/2019 23:10

@WhiteLightTrainWreck

Spending too much time cleaning?

You need to start a thread about this worrying behaviour.

I last read when we were in prison kitchens, they are very interesting places, but not very comfortable!

Even less so if you are unfortunate enough to be forced to work alongside CreakingKnees. The woman is hooch-mad! You would be dutifully stirring the porridge and peeling mountains of spuds while she was rummaging around in the compost bins, scavenging potato peelings and turnip tops to make her home brew. Or should that be cell brew? Anyway, she'd be selling the stuff under imaginative names like Voodoo Jazz Hat or Twisted Nose vodka and making a small fortune while you'd be stuck with doing all the real work - for peanuts. Even then, she'd be scavenging the discarded peanut shells.

If you don't mind accepting some unsolicited advice from a random stranger - avoid prison. And if you can't do that, then at the very least, refuse to go to the same prison. Prison staff just love prisoners who insist on setting their own conditions.

Jemima232 · 11/06/2019 22:54

@SingingLily

Unbelievable

Well, I packed my case and made my weary way to London (via Glasgow Central Station.)

What did my daughter say when she met me at Euston?

Mum, why have you brought such a big case?

I mean, seriously?

She hasn't got a MN account or so she says and I am amazed that a fourth person has now remarked on the size of my luggage.

The third person was DH, who said this morning "You're no' takin' that bloody big case to London, surely?" when he lugged it out of the cupboard.

Has anyone else got a comment to make?

Jemima232 · 11/06/2019 22:56

@SingingLily

I, too, used to work in a prison and CreakingKnees was invariably troublesome.

SingingLily · 12/06/2019 06:35

What on earth is wrong with your family, @Jemima232? Not only did you battle the wind and rain and the UK railway system but you only took one (large) suitcase. I think this was not only reasonable in the extreme but verging on the heroic. When Melania Trump visited London, she took 42 pieces of luggage and arrived by private jet. And she only stayed for three days! Even then, she never smiled. Not even once. Probably because she couldn't remember in which of the 42 suitcases she'd packed her toothbrush. Such a disorganised woman.

Jemima232 · 12/06/2019 11:07

@SingingLily

I also battled the vagaries of West Coast Motors, who run (very) occasional buses from my village to Glasgow.

I deserve a medal, not a load of abuse from my family.

And strangely, I received some unwanted advice from a Random Stranger on my travels ("don't go in there - someone's had a massive shit which won't flush away") so I suppose the journey was worthwhile, IYSWIM.

Spongeface · 12/06/2019 16:29

Jemima232 having just read all of this I think you are very brave and deserving of your unwarranted advice- such a positive outlook to have.
I bow to you as I know the dangers of a west coast motors bus and think you would have been safer on your much more reliable suitcase? That would also silence the critics.
Safe journey.

SingingLily · 12/06/2019 17:25

Jemima, West Coast Motors buses have an onboard toilet??? I think I would have advised the driver not to pick up any random stranger in case they decided to avail themselves of the facilities, even if they had already paid for their ticket.

Now I really really hope you soon recover from your journey!
