I have looked at (the ones the press have bothered to print of) these "new images" which have been declassified, and to me they show that there was a boat, on some water, possibly with Iranians on it, and there there was a boat, on some water, near a large grey ship after dark. Oh, and that at some point a large grey ship had a hole in it as well as some patches on its hull. And that there was what is said to be a mine on a ship's hull. Each of these was a discrete image, with none of the other images in shot, and there is no evidence that they were taken within a thousand miles of each other, or within ten years of each other, apart from a timeline provided by American intelligence with no supporting evidence.
There is absolutely nothing which shows that these things are linked in any way. It's like "and here to prove it is the very cat it happened to" as the clincher to a tall story.
