Oh that's interesting. The journalist at the Mail on Sunday was Isabel Oakeshott.

I didn't know she was in a relationship with the head of the Brexit Party (Richard Tice), but I know her name from previous bits of stirring – she was the one who published "someone told me Cameron shagged a dead pig's head".

Anyway, there's now a criminal investigation into who leaked the material – possible breach of Official Secrets Act.

Well well well. Here's another thing I did not know about Oakeshott.

Seems her fondness for publishing emails does not extend to those showing the extent of Mr Brexit Arron Banks' involvement with Russia.

In fact, she sat on those – all the while calling Carole Cadwalladr a conspiracy theorist – until the weekend the Observer was about to publish them. Then scurried to scoop the Observer.

So, emails from Her Majesty's Ambassador to Foreign Office = happy to publish, making Ambassador's position untenable and creating vacancy for ... who?

Arron Banks' emails that she had legit access to and which were relevant to an ongoing Electoral Commission investigation and the Mueller investigation = not happy to publish.

WTF?

So Oakeshott went to the Russian security services for information on David Cameron when he was prime minister. She had a meeting in Sochi with a “very high-level source” and also met members of the Russian Parliament.

Her book Call Me Dave included the Russian security sources' critical comments on Cameron, and Oakeshott suggested Cameron should have taken a "more sophisticated and pragmatic stance” towards Russia.

This was overshadowed on publication by the "shagging a dead pig" content.

None of the above is illegal, of course. But a combination of this and sitting on the Banks/Russia emails and publishing leaked Foreign Office emails directly impacting the UK/US relationship...

Ms Oakeshott is starting to look... interesting.
