A woman I know from evening class has two really annoying phrases. So much so I really want to say Argh very loudly 😠! All of her conversations are full of 'you know what I mean' and 'gobsmacked' and I sometimes wonder if she has any idea how many times she says these words during a 15 minute chat! I'm sure she would be gobsmacked if she counted! Joking aside though, we all look forward to hearing her entertaining stories about everyday stuff told with such dramatic fashion every week! So tell me about someone you know who has some really annoying phrases!

"Boys will be boys." Makes me want to puke in my mouth.

Thehop · 07/06/2019 22:27

“I was like....so she was like “ woman at work 🙈

Aquamarine1029 · 07/06/2019 22:28

To add, a cousin of mine was always saying this when her son was being a terror.

qj17 · 07/06/2019 22:29

Iv got a friend that always says 'The reality of the situation is' it's sooooo irritating.

littleyellowwellies · 07/06/2019 22:32

My old weight loss group leader would ask us to "raise the roof!!" Whenever she went round the group announcing publicly everyone's loss or gain. I really hated the 'almost hour' we spent "raising the roof" for Margret and Dorothy who had 'stayed the same' after having two slices of cake in a garden centre.

‘It is what it is’. Well of course it sodding well is!! It isn’t going to be what it isn’t, is it?!

ncdforthis · 07/06/2019 22:33

A big ask
Friends will be friends
Boys will be boys
Amazeballs
This one
On point

redexpat · 07/06/2019 22:34

Fell pregnant. Almost accidental, as if 2 consenting adults had no say in the matter.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 07/06/2019 22:34

Oh, and also ‘End of’. It’s had an annoying resurgence on here lately. People think it makes them sound decisive and no-nonsense. It actually makes them sound chavvy and too ignorant to engage.

ginghamstarfish · 07/06/2019 22:34

Not a phrase but a word ... 'sourced', when the speaker actually just means 'bought'. It comes across as very pretentious. Another word - 'literally' - which is used by thick people who don't know what it means.

TSSDNCOP · 07/06/2019 22:36

The very next person I hear saying “and then she turned round and said...” I’d likely to be vaporised by the Scorn or TSS.

firstimemamma · 07/06/2019 22:36

For some reason 'gives me the rage' annoys me, as well as 'gives me all the feels'.

Butterfly98 · 07/06/2019 22:37

Oh yes @ginghamstarfish everything is sourced these days and not bought! It sounds very like farmers market day!

Got paid, used commonly near me by people who receive benefits

Pinkvoid · 07/06/2019 22:39

At the end of the day...

onemouseplace · 07/06/2019 22:39

'Adult headache' Immediate unfollow for any dick on social media that uses it.

firstimemamma · 07/06/2019 22:40

Hash tag this, hash tag that.

Live, laugh, love.

IndianaMoleWoman · 07/06/2019 22:42

Seems to me that on social media everything is “stunning” or leaves you “fuming”. Both of these are often followed by the word “hun”, eg “You look stunning, hun” or “I was fuming, hun”.

Bunnylady53 · 07/06/2019 22:46

Oh God yes to “ She turned around to me & she said”! As my friend’s Dad used to say, “ What are you, a bloody ballet dancer?”!!
Another vote for literally, which is often used wrongly eg “ I literally died”
And I cannot bear OMG!

JamB4cream · 07/06/2019 22:46

"Once in a lifetime opportunity" usually said by spectators being interviewed on local TV having just witnessed some underwhelming event such as an Olympic torch passing through the village or some cycle race.

TinselAndKnickers · 07/06/2019 22:46

@onemouseplace what's an adult headache?!

Whenever I read "hubby" on here I automatically switch off, as well as "witch hunt"

Jeffjefftyjeff · 07/06/2019 22:48

‘Reach out to’
‘You pay your money, you make your choice’

Chickenwing · 07/06/2019 22:49

Amazeballs.AngryAngry totes, shizzle, adding dot com to the end of things or describing things as "vibes" AGGGGH!!!!!!!!

Chickenwing · 07/06/2019 22:50

Oh also when people describe their clothes as pieces... wtf is that?!
