To think the video of the woman hitting a teddy is not funny?

Several "friends" have shared a video on facebook showing a women pretending to feed a teddy and then punching it repeatedly when it refuses (she pretends it's refusing the food) so that she can get her young child to eat.

People are finding it hilarious but I think it's a horrific thing to do to a child and it's abusive. The poor child looks terrified

1 person has commented with similar thoughts and has been told to get a sense of humour.

surely this isn't funny though? AIBU?

I put that it promotes violence so perhaps they will re-evaluate?

The video described by PP with the baby and the chicken is straight up child abuse. It breaks my heart that there are people like this as the little ones have no option but to live through it.

NauseousMum · 07/06/2019 19:35

It really was abusive. He thought it funny and shared which was even more worrying. Made me really upset for the little boy.

A friend thought it funny until i informed him only a sadist would think so and it was abuse. Never saw the primary link so i could only report and delete the link friend sent.

fakeflowers · 07/06/2019 19:58

The fb link doesn't work i googled it can't find this video

AguerosAngel · 07/06/2019 20:00

YANBU, it’s awful.

FabulouslyGlamourosFerret · 07/06/2019 20:06

Gosh yes, I saw this ... it made me feel really uncomfortable.

chanderl · 08/06/2019 08:28

The cheese one is horrid and completely moronic.

GoldenRule · 08/06/2019 08:32

Its dreadful. That poor little boy will associate his mother with violence. I hope she's proud of herself.

bumbleymummy · 08/06/2019 08:43

Yanbu! I saw the video the other day and thought wtf?! It’s not funny at all.

BloodyEwanTheSheep · 08/06/2019 08:49

I didn't find it funny either. Similarly I didn't find the throwing cheese at a baby video craze funny either.

Mrsemcgregor · 08/06/2019 08:57

When I saw it a couple of days ago I was horrified. It’s really horrible.

Yet all the comments (that I saw) where clearly finding it really funny and “something to try”. Really wondered if I was living in a parallel universe.

ShesABelter · 08/06/2019 09:10

Scaring your child into submission through violence to eat. Parent of the year.

slipperywhensparticus · 08/06/2019 09:13

Its apparently because he wont eat eggs wont even try them

BeautifulWintersMorning · 08/06/2019 09:19

Those laughing at it are just showing everyone that they are crap parents themselves with no empathy for children. They'll be wondering why their child grows up angry and aggressive

TheDarkPassenger · 08/06/2019 09:22

I’m pretty easy going and that even wound me up too!! Horrible!

AFistfulofDolores1 · 08/06/2019 09:24

She shouldn't have children. Simple as.

NewAccount270219 · 08/06/2019 09:45

My baby threw eggs on the floor again this morning - they're the one food so far (he's 11 months) that he just will not put in his mouth.

I wish he would eat them, and I definitely sigh as I chuck them away again. However, I have not even considered trying to solve this 'problem' by terrifying him!

In general I'm always amazed at how much people prioritise getting food into a baby/toddler RIGHT NOW over their long-term relationship with food.

RiversDisguise · 08/06/2019 09:50

I hate the trend of using your children as props for your wannabe viral video.

Yabbers · 01/07/2019 13:18

It’s like those videos teasing kids til they are in floods of tears. Or the ones of them opening empty boxes at Christmas.

If you don’t think it’s funny, you’re the one with the problem.

Sickening people think it is ok to hurt children emotionally, that it’s really funny.

MyOpinionIsValid · 01/07/2019 13:20

I hate to state the obvious, but these are largely staged.

Yabbers · 01/07/2019 13:21

And those ones where people publicly humiliate their kids because they did something wrong. I saw a dad share a video of him really bully his daughter for - yep, you guessed it, being caught bullying. Wonder where she learned that from. He was considered an excellent father for punishing his daughter like that. 🙄

So the kid is in on it.?

AuntMarch · 01/07/2019 13:26

I've seen a few versions and some the kid is definitely too young to be "playing along" and look completely horrified by what they see - it is disgusting and YANBU. I posted about it on Facebook and was relieved that people in associate with seem to be in agreement, after being mortified by the comments on twitter.

AuntMarch · 01/07/2019 13:27

I won't eat peas or mushrooms. Why is it only as adults we are allowed preferences?

seasideramble · 06/07/2019 23:41

The child in this one was easy too young to be in on the joke. you could see the fear in his eyes. the parents might be joking but the damage they're doing to that child. The technique works and it works for a reason....

I was horrified by this. I saw it on twitter and reported it. Twitter upheld my complaint.
