To think the video of the woman hitting a teddy is not funny?

Several "friends" have shared a video on facebook showing a women pretending to feed a teddy and then punching it repeatedly when it refuses (she pretends it's refusing the food) so that she can get her young child to eat.

People are finding it hilarious but I think it's a horrific thing to do to a child and it's abusive. The poor child looks terrified

surely this isn't funny though? AIBU?

Yanbu. Its very strange and the child will think her mum will beat her if she doesnt want to eat.

chanderl · 07/06/2019 16:42

Link?

seasideramble · 07/06/2019 16:47

thats Exactly, the poor child will think that's going to happen to them. It's not at all but people I thought were decent, including people who are parents, are thinking it's funny Angry

Why not?

FredFlinstoneMadeOfBones · 07/06/2019 16:48

Yeah I've seen that and thought the same!

SmilingThroughIt · 07/06/2019 16:51

Yanbu it's truly awful. That child looks terrified. But you get all sorts of idiots today.

KinkyHair · 07/06/2019 16:53

I saw that and thought it was a horrible thing to do. I couldn’t understand why so many people thought it was hilarious.

Soubriquet · 07/06/2019 16:54

That sounds terrible

seasideramble · 07/06/2019 16:54

I really don't understand how anyone could think that's ok. At least it's not just me though. I was beginning to think maybe i was too uptight

I saw it and it honestly sent chills down my spine, the hitting of the teddy was so aggressive, the child must think that that would happen to them if they didn't eat the food, I did not find it funny at all, I just felt so sad for the child.

CarolDanvers · 07/06/2019 16:57

There's one where it's a couple, he's filming and she does it. It's clear though that they're joking because she bursts out laughing and can't stop after she's done it, a laughing sibling comes and hugs him and the child doesn't even really eat any way just looks at his mother in a quizzical way. The Dad is laughing while he films too. That one was funny because it was very clear that this was a loved, secure child and the adults wouldn't actually parent this way. Some of the others where the parent looks super serious and the baby quickly gobbles the food in fear were not at all amusing though.

Lotts123 · 07/06/2019 16:57

I saw it OP, I was horrified and thought how scared that child must be. It’s not what I would class as a suitable tactic, who threatens their child with violence, let alone to that level! Not funny in the slightest.

notso · 07/06/2019 17:02

I've seen several variations of this. In each one the child looks petrified and is eating when they clearly don't want to.
There is one where the parent hits the teddy for 'wetting' it's pants.

Empathy dolls can work really effectively when you behave positively towards them. There's really no need to make kids shit scared.

WreckingIt · 07/06/2019 17:04

Someone ought to take the teddy and replace its stuffing with a housebrick before smacking the parents round the chops with it.
See if they find it quite so funny then.

MarshaBradyo · 07/06/2019 17:06

WTH? I loathe people sometimes

Haven’t seen it tg

Don’t link just more hits

chanderl · 07/06/2019 17:07

Wow it's appalling

bibbitybobbityyhat · 07/06/2019 17:09

Yanbu, I would never watch anything like that, but the parents sound like complete arsewipes.

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/06/2019 17:09

That sounds really upsetting and a really terrible message to send to a child. What is with these videos of people doing terrible parenting and sharing it for laughs? Like the cheese throwing thing.

WhiteRedRose · 07/06/2019 17:09

Hate to say it OP but that's all still a cultural undertone in America (it is American, right?) Violence rules, even 'funny' violence 🤷

It's a disgusting video and really, really not funny at all. In 10 years she'll be complaining he's in a gang or running county lines over there. But hey, at least he ate his mash and peas 👌

seasideramble · 07/06/2019 17:10

Carol it sounds like that one. An older sibling does come in at the end and yes the mother just can't stop laughing. Is she wearing a black, white and brown tiger print sort of dress?

I just still don't see how it's funny. The child does look terrified.

OP posts:
seasideramble · 07/06/2019 17:10

Marsha yeah that's why I haven't

OP posts:
SilverDapple · 07/06/2019 17:10

I was horrified when I saw it, and was even more horrified to see plenty of people praising the parents.

Rootytoothy · 07/06/2019 17:11

Glad I’m not the only one who finds this disturbing!

PositivelyPeach · 07/06/2019 17:13

It's awful!!!
