To find the nativity rip off so irritating...

Before I go further I admit im a teacher and therefore am maybe cynical but this school act in Britain's got talent makes me cringe...it's a total rip off of nativity and the heateacher strikes me as totally fake...why is he involved in each performance? Id have a lot more respect for the act if I didn't have to see that "Mr poppy school of teaching" carry on !

Awww c’mon, all the kids looked so excited.

Their teacher believed in them, isn’t that what we want for all our kids?

unicorncupcake · 02/06/2019 20:00

Me too! And the kids aren’t actually singing, they’re shouting...

Mammyloveswine · 02/06/2019 20:08

@iamnotagoddess I think if he truly believed in them he wouldn't be pushing himself front and centre...what about the other teachers in the school who make the day to day impact?

@unicorncupcake I thought it was a bit painful tonight if I'm being totally honest... Blush

I think he took them to the audition for the experience, I don’t think they ever thought they would make it this far.

1CantPickAName · 02/06/2019 20:10

Completely agree with you about the teacher. The first time they performed was great, they really looked like they were having a blast!

Mammyloveswine · 02/06/2019 20:14

Tbh I think my main annoyance is with the headteacher...

I do agree the kids are cute...

Thank you for telling me that made the correct decision never to support the devil incarnate Simon Cowell and watch Britain's Got Talent.

TeenTimesTwo · 02/06/2019 20:19

YABU. I was reading elsewhere that he is a fab teacher doing great things in a school in a deprived area and teaching them how to follow their dreams and strive for success.
The children also might get confidence from having their teacher on stage with them.

Infinitely better than all the samey magic acts.

CoolCarrie · 02/06/2019 20:20

I think it’s going to be very difficult for the school t deal with the fall out if they don’t win, and yes it was not very good tonight, the novelty factor has worn off now.

SachaStark · 02/06/2019 20:20

I don’t watch BGT, but a friend of mine showed me the video of their first audition doing Don’t Stop Me Now.

I’m sorry, but where exactly was the talent? Why did they go through? Simply for a “fun” arrangement? There must be better kids’ choirs in existence.

Plus, some kid ran across the stage dressed as a diver during the “Lady Godiva” line... part of me thinks, well, they couldn’t dress like Lady Godiva, THAT would be inappropriate. But another part of me questions the literacy skills of that head, and maybe he really thought the lyrics were, “Go Diver!” Confused

Iamnotagoddess · 02/06/2019 20:20

Everyone is whipping out a deck of cards this year.

PegLegAntoine · 02/06/2019 20:20

Oops.

DH said the same having only ever vaguely (reluctantly) watched Nativity once!

I’m not really loving this final TBH although Libby and Charlie were adorable

Iamnotagoddess · 02/06/2019 20:22

The dog act has at least achieved something, the man with the eyes is hot but DD says is too young for me.

Libby and Charlie are ace.

TeenTimesTwo · 02/06/2019 20:24

Why should there be fall out if they don't win?

Presumably everyone is very busy telling the kids 'don't expect to win it, go and have fun, you're winners for having got this far, etc'.

Perhaps the other teachers don't want to spend loads of extra curricular time on this?

Mammyloveswine · 02/06/2019 20:28

Glad I'm not thinly miserable old cynic..Grin

Mammyloveswine · 02/06/2019 20:32

@Teentimestwo the other teachers will be planning, marking,resourcing...covering clubs... For th e children who want to do sports after school etc ..and probably attending meetings in lieu of the headteacher..

Eeeh I am a miserable old hag of a teacher these days Grin

Well, it is half term, so presumably not many meetings this week?

You (and I) have no idea how rehearsals have been done. Maybe as an after school, maybe in school time? But drama/shows are always part of primary life.

GoFiguire · 02/06/2019 20:40

Peer support at its best.

LouLou789 · 02/06/2019 20:43

I thought it was ridiculous they got through in the first place with what was essentially an end of term concert item with better costumes.

Mind you, I’m not too keen on the so-called psychic dog or the singing OAP either so maybe I’m just a curmudgeon.

PegLegAntoine · 02/06/2019 20:45

We wondered how they’d split the money if they win :o

This is all a big pile of meh. I don’t really enjoy magic/trickery type acts

Petalflowers · 02/06/2019 20:50

I imagine they only did it for the experience. The school is in a deprived area, and the audition act was a bit of fun for the school. They probably didn’t expect to get this far.

So what if it’s a bit of fun, and not particularly talented, those kids will have these magical memories for the rest of their lives. A bit of sunshine in their lives.

Petalflowers · 02/06/2019 20:51

And it was a lot more entertaining and worthwhile then the tambourine and harp acts they put through to the semis.
