To find the nativity rip off so irritating...

Before I go further I admit im a teacher and therefore am maybe cynical but this school act in Britain's got talent makes me cringe...it's a total rip off of nativity and the heateacher strikes me as totally fake...why is he involved in each performance? Id have a lot more respect for the act if I didn't have to see that "Mr poppy school of teaching" carry on !

Totally moving away from my initial post but why all the close ups of Cheryl whatevershescalledthesedays during Jonathan's escape routine?

(I totally love him though...apart from getting his kid in on the act too...)

@petalflowers you are right of course but the head is still irritating...

I thought that was his partner!

Alsohuman · 02/06/2019 20:54

They were shocking. My husband reckons they did it against the headteacher’s advice.

Nishky · 02/06/2019 20:54

mammyloveswine I know who I would rather teach my kids......

floraloctopus · 02/06/2019 20:55

Those children have now learnt that, even if they are from a deprived area, they can achieve great things. Some of those children may well have no ambition at all because growing up in a deprived area can sap you of any hope, ambition or dreams. If the teacher has made a difference to one child through doing this then hats off to him and everybody else at the school who has helped.

GreenTulips · 02/06/2019 20:58

More headteachers need to be like him.

He’s may be being away from school but it’s half term, but he’s giving his time for free and I bet the kids have learnt loads about tv production etc

MrsHandles · 02/06/2019 21:00

Fellow teacher here, I completely agree. The head wants all the glory and I cringed so hard I almost disappeared. I just hope that he allows his staff to do ‘off curriculum’ things and that he preaches what he practises.

CanILeavenowplease · 02/06/2019 21:00

OP - think deprived area, industry of the area all but dead, way higher than average FSM and PP, small town, higher than average drug and alsochol, problems, mental health etc etc .. In the context of leafy suburb it wouldn’t mean much and would probably be a bit embarrassing but what they are trying to do for those children is utterly outstanding. It’s not perfect and yes, there are better acts. Sad that people in the same profession don’t ‘get it’.

butterflywings37 · 02/06/2019 21:00

I think it's lovely - they aren't the best dancers or singers but the experience for the kids is something most won't ever get. I also like that the head teacher is involved, it shows support and shows he's 'with them'.

PegLegAntoine · 02/06/2019 21:02

I never saw them in previous rounds, is the head teacher the one in the massive moon thing or was that another teacher?

Nishky · 02/06/2019 21:02

canIleavenow I agree it’s sad the other teachers don’t get it- I guess it’s not a vocation for all

Mumsymumphy · 02/06/2019 21:03

Yes it's all Nativity-esque, M&S xmas ad-esque but you can't put a price on an experience like this for the kids. And it's FUN - sadly something that is being pushed out of the overly prescriptive NC

PegLegAntoine · 02/06/2019 21:11

Again showing my ignorance here but are they all cheering because they recognise X? Or is it just because they finally took the mask off?

Coxie2006 · 02/06/2019 21:12

X was on last year but not in disguise.

Mammyloveswine · 02/06/2019 21:13

Im confused with x....

Ohhh yes I see thanks. I never watched last year, I might have to find some on YouTube.

Coxie2006 · 02/06/2019 21:15

If I remember correctly his wife had previously had cancer & I think they had their baby via IVF
