I had significant morning sickness during my first three pregnancies. I'm now pregnant again and getting none. AIBU to worry?

I'm about 6 weeks and almost 42, and well aware of the scary miscarriage stats. Reluctant to get an early scan as I don't think it would necessarily reassure me.

Is there anyone out there who has experienced several consecutive vomit-filled first trimesters followed by one without any sickness at all? Or should I be preparing myself for a loss?

OP please don't worry just yet.

I had sickness with my first two and absolutely nothing with my third. All boys and all absolutely fine.

I had one pregnancy that ended in miscarriage at 15 weeks and I was absolutely sick as a dog, I couldn't even move out of bed yet the poor thing still died.

It isn't an indicator of how the pregnancy is progressing.

However, have you got the time or resources for an early scan to reassure yourself? Privately?

ILoveEurovision · 02/06/2019 08:27

Did you have sickness at 6 weeks with previous pregnancies OP? Mine didn't begin until week 7 or 8 IIRC.

Try not to worry anyway. There's no guarantee you'll get sick with each pregnancy.

BellaBellaBelle · 02/06/2019 08:40

Hi op, I have been pregnant several times with severe nausea. One resulted in my dd and the others unfortunately in miscarriage. Now pregnant with dc2 and had no nausea whatsoever.
I did have an early scan but held out until 9 weeks. Perhaps you could ask your midwife if this would be a possibility? Congratulations on your pregnancy.

WhiteRedRose · 02/06/2019 08:44

Totally normal, OP.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 02/06/2019 08:48

Sorry I just missed the bottom part where you said you didn't want to get an early scan.

Beldon · 02/06/2019 08:54

No all pregnancies are different. I had nothing with first 2 and sick as a dog with 3rd. Look out for other pregnancy signs to reassure you at moment. By the way I’m 42 and pregnant with 3rd. After reading all the stats and scare stories about older mums I’ve been convinced I was going to lose baby but all tests have been spot on, things like blood pressure which midwife told me will rise because of my age has stayed normal. Baby is doing grand at moment and I wished I hadn’t let the worry spoil all the first months

NauseousMum · 02/06/2019 09:03

All pregnancies are different. Ive been sick in all of mine, including the mmc. Baby died yet morning sickness stayed until it was identified. It's not really an indicator as a are different.

UpTheDuffWithOnlyASatnav · 02/06/2019 15:29

Thank you. And Flowers to those who were sick and had MMCs anyway.

Can I ask if the first 3 pregnancies were either all girls or all boys?

RedHelenB · 02/06/2019 15:32

Personally not having morning sickness = missed mc for me personally but not for a lot of people I spoke to about it so fingers tightly crossed for you.

Casander · 02/06/2019 15:38

I’m another who suffered HG and went on to have two MMC, I’m currently nearly 16 weeks and I’ve been on anti sickness tablets and I have been sick but nowhere near as bad. I had nothing at all this time until 7 weeks and then it hit!

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/06/2019 15:53

Can I ask if the first 3 pregnancies were either all girls or all boys?

That occurred to me too.

I know people with healthy pregnancies which varied wildly in symptoms.

UpTheDuffWithOnlyASatnav · 02/06/2019 15:55

First three were G, B, G - with no real difference between them. So no!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 02/06/2019 15:57

I was pregnant 5 times and the only times I had nausea with was my 2 successful pregnancies.

Ellisandra · 02/06/2019 16:09

Morning sickness with my miscarriage, not with my successful pregnancy.
Sister has 5 kids, 2 very sick, 1 a bit, 2 not at all - not gender determined.

Beldon · 02/06/2019 16:36

My pregnancies were girl, boy, boy and only sickness with 3rd

UpTheDuffWithOnlyASatnav · 02/06/2019 20:09

Well, I will update when I have news. Thanks.

Spoken to MW, and TBH it isn't looking great. Scan booked for Monday. Eeek.

I’m sorry up, will be crossing fingers for you on Monday I hope this is a false alarm and everything is ok xxx

CaptainMarvellous · 05/06/2019 06:34

The only time I didn't have sickness was when I had a several blighted ovums. Sorry OP, wishing you all the best

BellaBellaBelle · 05/06/2019 06:42

Sorry to hear your update op. Wishing you luck for Monday.

yellowgreenbluepurple · 05/06/2019 06:49

Good luck for your scan, I was still sick but definitely less sick with my MMC. This pregnancy I found my sickness started later but has been much worse ☹️ and is still going at 20+ weeks!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 05/06/2019 07:00

Why is not looking great?

Unless there's bleeding no one can tell. Unless you've had bloods done.
Hope you're ok.

UpTheDuffWithOnlyASatnav · 05/06/2019 07:03

I've had bleeding Sad

Oh OP, that's rubbish I'm sorry.
There could still be hope, my fingers are crossed for you.
