Just that. What do you drink?

EustaciaPieface · 02/06/2019 00:10

More than that!

Changemynamexchangemyname · 02/06/2019 00:10

Probably around two?

Crunchymum · 02/06/2019 00:10

What do you think OP?

Pipandmum · 02/06/2019 00:11

Sounds like me.

Crunchymum · 02/06/2019 00:11

Ha ha. I thought you asked "what do you think?"

I obviously drink way, way more than you Grin

TigerBreadAddict · 02/06/2019 00:12

Much less. 3 g&t’s maybe

managedmis · 02/06/2019 00:12

Same here, 3 per week. DH sometimes has some.

It's fine.

1066vegan · 02/06/2019 00:13

3 bottles of wine on your own or 3 bottles of wine shared with a partner? If you're drinking that much on your own it sounds a hell of a lot to me.

crosspelican · 02/06/2019 00:13

It's three times the recommendation for women, so I would say that you are inviting a host of health problems, probably including a weight problem, and also risking alcoholism if that is not already present.

You will feel and sleep a lot better if you stop.

TigerBreadAddict · 02/06/2019 00:13

It’s 30 units/week
NHS recommends no more than 14

foodenvy · 02/06/2019 00:14

I sometimes think it's too much as mostly consumed over the weekend. I can function fairly normally the next day but have a bit of a head fuzz. I have two small DC. By the end of the week I really enjoy the chill time and it's so nice

0 been tetotal all my life

pints and pints of milk is my drink

ColouringPencils · 02/06/2019 00:16

I think I drink slightly less than that and got the 'alcoholic test' (not sure what it's called) last time I was at the doctor's. I probably told them I drink 2 bottles a week, which I do, but I usually have 2-3 cans of lager too. To me, it doesn't seem that much.

foodenvy · 02/06/2019 00:17

No sharing, all for me. Ok, I probably need to cut it down. DH drinks beer. We're enablers, although he's been very good lately as he's on a diet.

You'll get the I drink a thimble at Christmas responses or I drink 27 bottles of wine a week and I'm fine....

1066vegan · 02/06/2019 00:18

NHS guidelines recommend a maximum of 14 units per week and says that's equivalent to 10 small glasses of low strength wine.

The website also says that one 750 ml bottle of wine (ABV 13.5%) contains 10 units so 3 bottles of wine would be twice the recommended weekly amount.

foodenvy · 02/06/2019 00:19

@tor8181 have you ever tried alcohol?

OP posts:
Tunt · 02/06/2019 00:23

I drink two bottles at the weekend and then maybe a couple of g and ts, or a couple of small sherries over the week, try and have at least three booze free days.

It’s not something I worry about and I don’t find the NHS guidelines realistic.

Pringlefan · 02/06/2019 00:23

Hmm, I agree, cut down, that seems quite a lot to me, although I don't drink much.
I drink probably once a month on average, and then maybe have the equivalent of 2 or 3 glasses of wine. Essentially I only when it's an 'occasion', so a fancy meal out, a wedding or other event, or cocktails out with the girls. Okay maybe I'll drink more if it's a cocktails night! But I don't drink casually.

foodenvy · 02/06/2019 00:24

I just find after a full on busy week it's a nice warm buzz and relaxing feeling. I quite like the drunk feel. My dad is an alcoholic. It does worry me that I'm just like him. I know it's the habit we fall into, I'm definitely in it.

SisyphusHadItEasy · 02/06/2019 00:26

I was drinking excessively, and quit recently. I learned that I can't do moderation, so none it must be.

foodenvy · 02/06/2019 00:28

@SisyphusHadItEasy do you miss it?

I was drinking that mainly on the weekend. I found I was really sluggish and a crap parent the next day. I also found my anxiety increased after drinking so decided to treat cut down.

I gave it up solidly for over a month. I slept better, was more productive, lost weight, but was a better mom too. I then started to drink but with an appreciation for how much better I felt without drinking. So now I typically have a couple on the weekend if anything. E.g had a fizz on Friday and then I had two coronas today at a bbq. But that's it for the week.

I also found my trigger was that 5 o'clock dinner, bathtime, bedtime start was when I wanted one. I now find if I can push through past that I'm over it by the time the kids are asleep.

I've had one big session since I stopped (Feb) and felt awful the next day so that's put me off for a while!

Sorry that was long, just wanted to share my experience.

missminagrindlay · 02/06/2019 00:33

It's your life, if you want to drink that, go for it.

SimulationTheorist · 02/06/2019 00:34

None, and haven't done for 12 years. I developed an allergy.

I miss the odd beer or glass of cold wine on a summer's day, but I only ever drink water usually, so when I fancy something nicer, I'll buy tonic water and a posh cordial, or a nice M&S poo.

It feels like a treat then, and stops me missing booze.
