Wondering how much people pay per month for their mortgage...

We currently have our house on the market, looking to move to a new build property nearby. New mortgage has been quoted as being £805 per month. That's more than we are currently paying but actually less than I thought. It's a bigger property and to move up a size the prices go up considerably around here. We aren't well off, don't have a fat pot of savings or equity in the house so, as I see it, that cost is about what we expected. We know of lots of people with mortgages more than that.

A friend asked the other day what it is likely to cost per month and commented it was a lot of money. So, out of interest, I'm wondering what people are generally paying for their mortgages???

I read someone’s reply on a thread a few weeks ago and she basically said she doesn’t know anyone who pays less than a grand a month .

We pay £500 a month. We had a substantial deposit and are up north.

We are paying nearly twice what you are considering however it's all totally relative, we have shortened the mortgage term so we pay it off quicker and this isn't particularly a large monthly amount for where we live so it's just such a huge question. I know people with pretty much no mortgage and some with higher than us.

Main house is £1390 a month, nearly kills us. Other house is £390 a month (accidental landlords)

I think it’s better to think about what percentage of your monthly earnings go on the mortgage.

£562. 3 bed semi in a nice area in NW England. Bought a year ago.

£1300 for a three bed semi in Manchester.

We only had a five percent deposit, and hoping to remortgage this year which our broker estimates will drop our payments to £1000

Thanks all, hmmm percentage of income wise it's about 24% of our monthly income, not sure if that's good or bad??? Mortgage would be for 30 years 😫 which also makes me nervous!
I go through phases of thinking 'it is what it is' current house is just too small, we need a new one, that's what it costs. And phases where I feel a bit panicked as it feels a long time committed to working full time etc.
