To actually consider I could be pregnant 8 weeks after having baby?

Baby born April 2nd. 22nd May got what seemed to be first period, but it didn't last as long as normal (I read it's normal for them to change pp though).

About a week (give or take) beforehand, dtd twice and he pulled out, and once dtd no pulling out. The day after the suspected period had finished (26th May) also dtd no pulling out (sorry for details).

Tuesday night I felt sick when I woke up, like I was going to be sick (I sleep evenings so night is my morning). This morning (now) I feel nausea again.

I am probably just overly paranoid because with my first pregnancy nausea was the first symptom and it started pretty much immediately after conception. Also I noticed a 'difference' in the smell of dh's tobacco (which was just increased sense of smell) and lately I can smell his tobacco when it's in the pouch a couple of feet away.

If it wasn't for the suspected period I would feel a lot more sure I was pregnant. I feel too sick to proof read this I hope it makes sense!

I would say congrats! Small gap is fantastic.

FermatsTheorem · 31/05/2019 18:24

Congrats! I have friends whose children are 11 months apart, so similar timescale to yours I think (she must have conceived 8 to 10 weeks after giving birth). The toddler years were incredibly hard work, but now they have two lovely DDs close enough in age to play with each other.

I didn’t have any period after my dad, she was breast feeding literally all day long and I fell pregnant when she was 4 months. I didnt even realise until I was gone 10 weeks and had no idea how far along I was. To top it off neither of us remember having any sort of sex at All!

BenjiB · 31/05/2019 18:28

Daughter not dad

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/05/2019 18:28

I hope you get the result you want.

littlemisscynical · 31/05/2019 18:29

Congrats OP

Good luck OP!

Yes you could be pregnant.
However if you're breastfeeding then it's unlikely

QOD · 31/05/2019 18:38

"However if you're breastfeeding then it's unlikely"

It might be less likely, but still possible isn't it?

It's not a reliable method of contraception is it?

B1uebe11 · 31/05/2019 18:46

What is POAS please?

IDontDrinkTea · 31/05/2019 18:46

POAS = pee on a stick. ie take a test

iMatter · 31/05/2019 18:48

Don't ever rely on breastfeeding as a contraceptive.

I was exclusively bf ds1 every 3 - 4 hours and got pregnant with ds2. Age gap is almost exactly a year. I don't regret it for a second as I was 36 when I had ds1 and didn't know if I would get pregnant again.

onegiftedgal · 31/05/2019 18:49

Agree with a previous poster about the selfishness of your dh. You've just gone through birth and he can't be arsed to arrange a condom 😩

whatareyoudoingneil · 31/05/2019 18:50

I would be shitting myself... but 2 close together definitely pays off once you're out of the baby stage, lovely to have 2 kids close in age

BenjiB · 31/05/2019 18:52

I fell pregnant whilst EBF my daughter and my periods hadn’t returned. At 4 months old she was literally feeding all day and most of the night.

Shootingstar1115 · 31/05/2019 18:52

Yes you could be. I’ve always been led to believe that you are really fertile after giving birth.

Happened to mil. She got pregnant within weeks after having a baby. OH’s younger siblings are incredibly close in age!

ChikiTIKI · 31/05/2019 19:04

hope it turns out positive! good luck!!

amispeakingenglish · 31/05/2019 19:09

Yes of course you could be, I breast fed on demand although baby 2 didn't wake during the night and got pregnant when no 2 was 6 months. Also had a friend whose younger sister was 11 months younger. Hope all goes well for you!

Devilinatwinset · 31/05/2019 19:09

I'm an Irish twin. I was 8 weeks old when my bro was conceived. We were born at either end of the same year.
You are more likely to conceive if you have sex right after a period before ovulation, than sex after ovulation. Those wee swimmers can live for up to 5 days up your doot.

Fowles94 · 31/05/2019 19:21

I don't understand why your asking? Surely you just do a test.

boobirdblue · 31/05/2019 19:24

@Fowles94 have you read the thread? 🙄

DamnIvy · 31/05/2019 19:28

It happens! Ds3 was unplanned. We used a condom, that split, so I took the morning after pill. I thought no more of it. 6 weeks later I was very ill and found out I was pregant, I had had the implant put in by this point, and no other accidents since the first time.
I now have two 11 months apart, (start and end of December). They wont be in the same school year. People always think they are twins, or get really confused in December whe they are both the same age! Got odd looks when my younger one started nursery 6 months before my 4 year old leaves for perception. nice that they get to enjoy nursery together for a while though. They get on sooo well!

It was tough, end of pregnancy with one that wasn't yet walking, and first few months after having him are a bit of a blur, but not as bad as I thought.
I wouldn't do it again though lol.

Congratulations!

IsaMatilda · 31/05/2019 19:29

Am the only one amazed at the sheer fact of dtd so many times with a tiny baby, I was in no fit state for any funny business for a hell of a lot longer and when that time came I was too tired to act on it. Without making light of it, good on you b0bb1n

namechangedasscared · 31/05/2019 19:32

Fingers crossed your faint line really did mean positive for you as you seem very happy! Good luck x
