we have a RARE child free evening and had planned to go out for a curry. but I've done a 2 day as part of the 5:2 so suggested we see rocketman in our lovely local new cinema instead. but he's insisting we dont change plans leaving me feeling not listened to and cross. aibu?

Well if you planned the curry already I don't think hes being unreasonable

Tixytrick · 28/05/2019 17:39

If you rarely get out I would change my diet plans for the day. Eating a meal and chatting is more of a date than sitting in silence in the Cinema for me, especially if rare. Diets should never control your life.

heroineinahalfshell · 28/05/2019 17:40

YABU if you chose to do a 2 day after you'd planned the curry and without speaking to him first. Just reschedule your 2 and enjoy starters with your curry!

Greenteandchives · 28/05/2019 17:40

Why don’t you have the curry tonight and just do the 2 day tomorrow instead?
It doesn’t matter if you are already half way through.

ZaraW · 28/05/2019 17:40

If you knew you were going out to eat you could have changed your day? If so YABU. Give me a curry over the cinema anytime.

MsRinky · 28/05/2019 17:40

If it's so rare for you to go out, why are you doing a fast day today? The whole point of 5:2 is that is is flexible enough to accommodate going out for dinner once in a while. Think you're probably being tetchy because you're hungry...

SolitudeAtAltitude · 28/05/2019 17:41

People and their diets are so boring Grin

Can't you fast another day?

sussexmum · 28/05/2019 17:41

yes pinkyponker you're right I'm asking him to change plans, it that soooo bad though? I'm probably flgrumpy from lack of food! but am feeling like I don't want to go on a date with someone so inflexible.

If date night is such a rarity (I empathise as it’s very rare for us to) I would forego the diet for the day! Just have a proper date and enjoy yourself!

Babysharkdododont · 28/05/2019 17:42

OP do you realise the irony, you're as inflexible as him, what if he said he didn't want to go on a date with you?

LindsayDenton · 28/05/2019 17:42

Yabu. I wouldn’t be happy changing my plans... I love a good curry though!

Desmondo2016 · 28/05/2019 17:43

Eat the bloody curry. Have your 2 day tomorrow!

ZaraW · 28/05/2019 17:43

But you are being inflexible maybe he should follow your line of thought and eat alone? As said above diets are boring.

sussexmum · 28/05/2019 17:43

ok everyone thanks for the advice I'll stuff my face and enjoy a lovely evening xxGrinCakeWine

Too not to!

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 28/05/2019 17:44

Is this a reverse??? Surely no one would choose some shitty diet over a rare night out?

Otisandolive · 28/05/2019 17:45

“I don’t want to go on a date with someone so inflexible”

Hmmmmmm

Sounds like you’re pretty inflexible to me. YABU

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 28/05/2019 17:45

Eat and enjoy it!

gggrrrargh · 28/05/2019 17:45

Seen your update, you've made the right choice! Smile

AuntMarch · 28/05/2019 17:46

Someone so inflexible.... Says the person who'd let their diet be more important than a planned meal with their husband. This cannot have been serious

rainbowunicorn · 28/05/2019 17:46

He is being no more inflexible about where he would like to go on the prearranged date night than you are about your diet. Just do the fast another day. At the end of a month it won't matter which days you did the fast and which were normal. You will have consumed the same amount of food and will either have lost, stayed the same or gained depending on the total amount eaten over the full month.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 28/05/2019 17:50

Glad you’ve stopped being so inflexible - have fun!

CaMePlaitPas · 28/05/2019 17:53

Have fun !

Singlenotsingle · 28/05/2019 17:54

Can't you do both?

Usuallyinthemiddle · 28/05/2019 17:55

I'll go. I could murder a curry!
