Grilled cheese sandwiches on Italian ciabata bread with sharp cheddar and ham.

It's quick and easy and everyone likes them.

tenlittlecygnets · 10/06/2019 21:01

Pasta al pomodoro. My go-to for a quick tea.

wendywoopywoo222 · 10/06/2019 21:02

Had KFC. It was yum.

Loftyswops988 · 10/06/2019 21:05

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 10/06/2019 21:09

Spicy chicken and lentil soup. Sorry MN, we only get 2 meals out of our chicken Blush.

What's the difference between dinner and tea in the UK? I'm a Yank. Smile

tenlittlecygnets · 10/06/2019 21:14

Dinner and tea can both mean the evening meal. Or in some parts of the uk dinner means lunch, MissConduct

SwimmerGirl40 · 10/06/2019 21:16

@missconductUS

That’s controversial 😂😂😂

I’m northern and my northern, working class grandparents would have had:
Breakfast
Dinner (at 12 noon)
Tea - at about 6pm
Supper - a biscuit and hot milky drink before bed

Middle class people (of which I am now one would have:
Breakfast
Lunch - around mid day
Dinner - about 6 ish

Upper class people have:
Breakfast
Luncheon - around mid day
High tea - sandwiches, scones, cakes around 4 pm
Supper - evening meal

SwimmerGirl40 · 10/06/2019 21:20

My good American friend never got her head around the intricacies of our class system. I think it’s so ingrained in us that we don’t even realise we facilitate it on a daily basis - what you call each meal indicates what class you come from, FGS and yes it is 2019 here, you haven’t just jumped into a time machine. 😂😂😂

My good American friend never got her head around the intricacies of our class system.

It's a bit of a mystery to me too. Smile

Our concept of "tea" is high tea with scones, etc. Some posh hotels here do it. The evening meal with family would be dinner, or less commonly supper, and usually served between 6:00 and 7:30, depending on everyone's schedule.

EuromumAussiekid · 11/06/2019 15:47

For us
Lunch about 12 but sometimes 1pm
Dinner at about 6 or 7 in the evening

Today dinner is chicken and veg pie with ( probably) baked beans

Oysterbabe · 11/06/2019 17:12

Pasta alfredo with some leftover chicken and a green salad.

Mammylamb · 11/06/2019 18:49

Lentil Bolognese and pasta topped with mozzarella here. Managed to finish it before DS3: so he won’t get to steal any off my plate

cricketmum84 · 11/06/2019 18:52

Veggie all day breakfast! LM rosemary and red onion sausages, hash browns, mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes and beans. Cannot wait!!

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/06/2019 18:54

It's mainly cobbled together with leftovers.

WindsweptEgret · 11/06/2019 19:34

MissConductUS · 11/06/2019 19:37

It seems to pasta night on both sides of the pond! Rotini with tomato based pasta sauce and pork and beef meatballs, with garlic bread on the side.

missbatmeg · 11/06/2019 21:07

Tonight was Bolognese pasta bake. Baby approved, little squirmy still hasn't stopped

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 12/06/2019 04:14

All the veg in the fridge and drawer tonight roasted and drizzled in tahini and lemon dressing!

HermioneMakepeace · 12/06/2019 04:17

Buddha Bowls: tofu, brown rice & black beans, avocado, charred corn and corn chips.

Kids love this dish, it’s super healthy and it leaves leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Oysterbabe · 12/06/2019 06:09

Pie, mash and beans.

usernamepinched · 12/06/2019 08:09

Tapas. Faffy as fuck and costs a fortune but I have a hankering and bought all the bits in yesterday. Need to look up how to make authentic patatas bravas.

BadLad · 12/06/2019 08:19

Just me tonight. I've pre-made a salad. I'm also opening a large tin of baked beans (a rare treat here), and I've got two massive, juicy, fuck-off sirloin steaks.

SnugglySnerd · 12/06/2019 08:24

Pasta pesto with roasted tomatoes and asparagus, Parmesan and pine nuts tonight.
I love these threads for inspiration!

troppibambini · 12/06/2019 12:48

Roasted pepper risotto.
