To ask how many bras you have?

LouLou789 · 27/05/2019 20:51

I noticed today that my neighbour’s washing on her line today included a number of bras. And presumably she had one on, too, which adds to her collection.

I only own two! One decent one and an older one to wear while the other is washed. OK I can understand having extra for, say, wearing a halter top or for sports, but is it me who is unusual, with only two bog standard ones? Do you wear a fresh one every day?

Since finding the size that fits me and looks good, I've invested ... at Primark Grin I have about a dozen, all different colours/patterns, hanging in the bedroom from a sock dryer, and another half a dozen in the drawer.

IDontDrinkTea · 27/05/2019 22:06

Probably too many
Three sports bras
Four nursing bras that I’m currently using
About twenty normal bras. All with matching pants. Pre-baby I liked a nice set of undies. Now I live in granny pants and nursing bras

Standandwait · 27/05/2019 22:11

Three beige ("skin tone" for me!) and one black never understand why people own white ones, since they seem to show under everything including white tops. Also never quite get why people make a fetish of matching pants and bras don't you ever wear a light top over a dark bottom?

The first thread I ever read on MN was a question about how often to wash bras. Have since concluded it depends not only on how much you perspire (exercise? menopause?) but also the design of the bra, chiefly how high it comes up under arms. If I'm washing a load in the machine I might toss one in inside a net bag but otherwise it's just as easy to fill the second sink in the bathroom with hand wash (isn't that what the second sink is for? do couples actually stand side by side and brush in sync? Grin)

Standandwait · 27/05/2019 22:15

Oh, yeah, I guess I do also have an adjustable (strapless/racerback) thing for special dress ... don't actually have said dress anymore but who knows...

Standandwait · 27/05/2019 22:17

And sports bras x 3 ... and the ones DH likes..

turns out this question is more complicated than I thought! But they all live in different drawers (you know: the underwear drawer, the sports kit drawer, the dress-up kit drawer, and, um, the sex kit drawer Blush)

stayathomer · 27/05/2019 22:18

2, one black, one beige. I miss the days I used to have different colours. Sigh.

LouLou789 · 27/05/2019 22:19

CherryPavlova I’m a granny now so don’t have backless etc. but even when I was young and delectable I don’t recall having more than 3 bras. And I’ve never had a matching set.

Too many- all with matching knickers. Also loads of sports bras as I’m at a gym class or PT most days.

spugzbunny · 27/05/2019 22:20

Do people really change their bra every day?

I have 3 that I actually wear. 2 normal for work (Black) and 1 nursing for the weekend. I usually wear them for 3 days then wash. I don't exercise at the moment to my shame so no sports bra but if I did I'd obviously have that as well. I do actually need a new one for a wedding as it needs to be nude so I'll have 3 then.

Chocolate35 · 27/05/2019 22:21
  1. One good black one and one good white one for “out” and one of each colour that have no support but are ridiculously comfortable for home.
tor8181 · 27/05/2019 22:21

1

being a 44 J/K they are bloody expensive and this one holds them up and in

i only wear one when im out anyway as at home im in nightwear

pajamas though i have drawers ands drawers full

LovelyJubblee · 27/05/2019 22:22

Two here too. One white and one beige

Vittoriosa · 27/05/2019 22:23

2!!

CherryPavlova · 27/05/2019 22:23

LouLou789 I'm old enough to be a granny too. I’m not sure I’ve ever been delectable either, to be honest. I still have some that can
be worn under a low cut, draped back evening dress but they’re quite old. Matching sets always have uncomfortable scratchy knickers.

thatsthegirl · 27/05/2019 22:24
Shock

I have three and never occurred to me that it wasn't normal! One black, one white, one beige!

Those of you with ÂŁ20 plus must spend a fortune on matching undies etc.

It always really annoyed me when I'd buy a pretty or intricate bra, buy a few pairs of matching knickers and would inevitably ruin the underwear part. So then would have a bra with no matching pants. My pants always seem to end up out of service first.

Pasithea · 27/05/2019 22:26

About 10 but I never wear one.

YesQueen · 27/05/2019 22:26

4 sports bras
I don't know how many normal ones, maybe 40-60? No strapless as they don't exist in my size Sad so all just standard plunge/balcony etc. Mix of bravissimo, elomi, Ewa michalak
2 bras for at home - a Molke and one from lucky sew and sew

I do lingerie modelling so I need a few options!

stucknoue · 27/05/2019 22:26

Umm, no idea, maybe 20, but that includes sports (2), strapless (3) and some that should be in the dustbin

3boysandabump · 27/05/2019 22:28

Own maybe 7 but only Wear 2 of them

goose1964 · 27/05/2019 22:28

4,had a splurge in Primark

TheRLodger · 27/05/2019 22:29

Probably like 10. 5 everyday ones. The rest are for specific outfits or a couple of specific outfits

1moremum · 27/05/2019 22:30

currently, only 6 plus a few came tops and exercise tops with bras built in. I've been losing weight though, so they don't all fit well. while my weight was stable, but high, I ended up with two dozen at one point. and they were expensive specialty store bras, I am back down into a size range available at a lower price/more stores. not quite at my goal weight though not ready to fill the drawer back up with bras I end up putting in the charity bag.

1moremum · 27/05/2019 22:31

*cami tops

OopsIHidItAgain · 27/05/2019 22:31

That I regularly use: 12 bras and 5 sports bras.

As a PP said, they each are different colours/cut/texture/fit, so have different purposes!
For example, two are strapless, but one is a pushup strapless whereas one is not. (So depends on whether I want pushup look for that outfit that night.)
One the straps come inwards like a halter, so good for tops where bra straps show. One is black for under a black top. One is pure comfy bra. One is very smooth so no lines, but is a little less supportive. One is longline so smooth lines on my silhouette. A couple are sexy.

RogueV · 27/05/2019 22:32

About 25-30

But I am currently breastfeeding so rotate through 5 feeding bras in the day and 3 crop tops for night
