AIBU to wonder why people say jeans are comfy?

While leggings/yoga pants/track pants have kind of taken over, I’ve always been puzzled why jeans were considered comfy! Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and rather unforgiving for irregularly shaped bodies. Leggings are comfy. Sweats are comfy. Pajama pants are comfy. Jeans .... are not.

I also don’t really think they are particularly fashionable in real life, though they did look great in cigarette ads back in the day

AIBU for wondering why people say they are comfortable?

I love jeans. Leggings are rubbish and fall down all the time. I wear jeans every day including for work, have lots of different colours. They're practical due to pockets and completely comfortable as long as they're the right size!

Another one here for Hollister high waisted jeans, so much stretch, don’t lose their shape, tumble dry well and are so comfy. River Island Amelie jeans are fantastic too, lots of stretch and easy to get on and off. Stay away from their Molly jeans though, they shrink and are nowhere near as comfortable.
I love jeans, you can dress them up or down so easily.

Jeans are comfy if you have no fat I remember living in jeans in my younger days. Now get back into joggers as soon as home😁

@ElspethFlashman - thanks for the tip! Will be out shopping tomorrow!

I live in jeans all the time. All day everyday.
Most from M&S but also have a great pair of boyfriends from Brandy Melville and I love my Orson jeans from TopShop.
All are very comfy.

I’m a overweight apple and I love jeans.
I disagree they are too hot or cold being ideal for most U.K. seasons.

I find leggings comfy but I am conscious of them becoming baggy and attracting stains easily. They also can’t be worn without a long top in my case whereas jeans make my legs look longer and waist smaller.

I love my Next, mid rise, boyfriend fit jeans, in tall. I'm 5'11" and long legged, so I'm pleased to find a tall range, where sleeves actually come to my wrists, and trousers to my ankles! They also did a high rise (4 buttons plus a zip) skinny jean(s) last year, and I bought 4 pairs! These are all in rotation now.
I wear Next tall maternity leggings to get them high waisted enough (I can't be doing with anything low rise, and as mentioned, I'm long!) and they're just right. Yes, I have teens, but I don't care!
My work 'uniform' is a longline vest (I have all the colours!) white stuff/Boden dress/tunic, over leggings/Snag tights (seriously, the best for tall people!) and boots. I'm glad shops are catching up with tall sections, but I seem to fit well into Next sizing, so do the bulk of my shopping there. I've eyed up the M&S jeggings and the DP Eden ones, but they don't look like they'd come up high enough on the waist for me? Anyone got any wisdom?
I promise I don't work for Next! Grin

Perhaps some people say jeans are comfy because they find jeans comfy? I certainly do, way moreso than leggings

corythatwas · 26/05/2019 21:50

People have different sensory issues. For me, tights and leggings make me feel sweaty and confined because they cling too closely to the body. Also absolutely cannot stand tops that cling to the body or, worst of all, turtle necks.

I’m sure I used to find jeans comfy when I was younger, but now only if I’m out and about and not sitting down too much. When I’ve been sitting in front of the computer for half an hour I usually find them digging into my stomach (luckily I mostly work from home so can change or undo the top button). I was very pleased when I first put on maternity jeans as they were so comfortable around the waist. Unfortunately this lack of grip meant that if I ran to get on the tube I had to keep hoicking them up or they would have probably ended up round my ankles!

I live in jeans, and they’re totally comfortable. They’re dirt cheap and last for years. You just need to buy the right size! I have five pairs, the oldest and most faded are used for gardening, the one size larger is for if I’m feeling bloated or have temporarily gained a pound or two, and the rest are for everyday wear.
I have a job lot of 14 white t shirts to go with them, and it saves wasting any time deciding what to wear each morning!

Cory, me too. Perhaps that's why I don't like elasticated jeans. I hate to have my legs confined, don't wear pyjamas for that reason - got to have my legs free.

Turtle necks tho, I've recently got into those. But not too high up, about halfway up my neck and loose. So not turtle neck at all lol.
