Stares about noticeable age difference

I'm getting quite conscious of people staring at the age difference with me and DP.
It isn't drastic, 7ish years but I look quite young and he looks a few years older.

How do you just ignore this? Has anyone else experienced this?

How do you know they're 'staring at the age difference'?

@WorraLiberty good point, I don't really- but I think it's a good assumption, maybe I'm just paranoid!

We have 14 years between us but dp the git looks 15 years younger than he is and me much older! How do you know people are looking for that reason?
If the gap doesnt bother you id just ignore it!

There's 13 years between DH and myself. He's been mistaken for my father a couple of times. I think it's more to do with the fact that he's bald. He's not bothered. He normally just laughs.

The age difference between me and DP is double yours and no one has ever commented (or stared that I've noticed). Unless you're a young looking 14 year old, and he's an old looking 21 year old they're definitely not looking at you for the age difference.

I'm 13 years older than Male DP, I think I do look older than him. No one has commented negatively on us, we are often described as a lovely couple etc. If anyone stares at us I dont notice it.

You might be paranoid

There's 9 years difference between me and my ex husband and he looks older than his years.

We never had a single stare as far as I know

@Divgirl2 not 14 but I'm 99% sure I look under 18 a lot of days!!!

I don't think that's what people are staring at ; maybe they're not staring at all. 7 years is fairly standard.

It sounds like perhaps you have a bit of a complex about the age gap, OP.
If we have a complex about something we always assume that other people notice it.
I can’t imagine really noticing a 7 year age gap as it’s pretty small. Or are you young?

How old are you OP? Unless you're 10 I can't imagine it being that noticeable/surprising.

There's 18 years between dh and I. We've been together a long time now, and have certainly had a few comments thrown at us in our time. Nothing we haven't laughed off though. I don't think 7 years is a big age gap at all... Barely noticeable infact. You're definitely paranoid.

7 years is nothing. And at 27 it's very unlikely he looks massively older than he is.

There is 19 years difference between DH and I. I look younger than my age.i can guarantee that you think people are staring at you because of your insecurity. No one else notices

Agree with others. A 7 year age gap is nothing. I can't imagine anyone is staring at you for that reason.

Op is this a newish relationship?
I only ask as when I first got with dp I was paranoid that people were staring at the 6 year age gap. Now I don't think anyone stares or ever did.

Do you look under 16 and does your dp look older than he is?

Bare in mind that some people stare anyway. People often stare at me and/or my dds. There is nothing extraordinary about me at all, or my dds for that matter.
I have no idea why they do it. My dcs are young women/teenagers and have natural coloured hair, no tatoos, no facial piercings, wear everyday clothing, no birth marks etc etc.
Some people are just odd.

7 years isn’t a big gap at all and really isn’t going to raise any eyebrows. My BF is 12 years older than me and I’ve never once noticed anyone staring at us. You sound a bit paranoid TBH.

@Eustasiavye I think I look about 16/17!

If you look like a teenager and he looks in his 30s say then people might be looking.
7 years isn't a big gap though really.
