Fabric, Fabric, Fabric....although it's not an intentional collection.
I do dressmaking, bag making and all sorts of sewing projects, do when I see fabric I like I buy it, problem is, I live near an area that has lots of fabric shops, plus on line shopping, arghhhhh.....
I have my own sewing room which I am out growing, (I also have 3 sewing machines, 2 embroidery machines, an over locker, a coverstitcher, and 2 x scan and cut machines.
So I am looking at getting a garage conversion for my workshop...
And yes, my whole family, friends (not the sewing ones) think it's hilarious, whilst at the same putting in orders with me, Lol.....

Children seemingly...

MaryShelley1818 · 24/05/2019 07:26

What a lovely thread. Such a refreshing change from the usual MN adults must never have fun!

We have fridge magnets, Lego, Harry Potter stuff, Disney stuff and old books.

Pandoraslastchance · 24/05/2019 08:30

Pocket dragons. Well until they became stupidly expensive when they stopped being made.

Pandoraslastchance · 24/05/2019 09:06

Oh and cross stitch patterns of ladies in period dresses by Sue Page, Nora Corbett and Joan Elliott. When stitched they hang in my little gallery in my living room.

Franullalitta · 24/05/2019 09:13

I collect Emma bridgwater it's a running joke with my family on how much I have. I have no other pottery now and shamefully have a dresser as well at my mums. I have not brought any more for a whole 18 months now as it was getting a bit silly. My 6 year old daughter collects pokemon and we both play pokemon go together while using my Emma Bridgewater. Good times.

So this thread has inspired me to try again with DD1 (the aforementioned child who was unimpressed with the use of shelves in her room for CS books) and I am delighted to announce that she has gone to school with Elisaveta tucked under her arm and a big grin on her face. There is hope for her yet...

vampirethriller · 24/05/2019 21:10

I'm having to try really hard to resist collecting snow globes with flamingos in them. I've got two and there's no room for more collections but I love them so much.

babyno5 · 25/05/2019 21:17

@Franullalitta as long as your daughter appreciates the EB then that's great! If she doesn't trade her in for one that does 😂😂 xx

@Dragonlight if you tell me which country/continent I can see what I can do? Can't promise I can send, but will try to find out at least.

Asta19 · 25/05/2019 23:08

Hello kitty stuff, I have some really rare items I got from Japan.
Rilakkuma (another Japanese character) I actually modelled my kitchen on a Japanese character cafe, with rilakkuma wallpaper on one wall! I have rilakkuma saucepans and kitchenware too.
My house is pretty unusual!

Aberforthsgoat · 25/05/2019 23:34

Old perfume bottles - the vintage glass type with the tasselled pumps. I have nowhere to keep them and nowhere to display them but I love them - especially the faint lingering fragrance in some of them. I like to think of them being used by some posh high society lady, spritzing around her scent before going to a fancy event... Grin

Pusheen stuff, I have loads of the plushies and they're just adorable. (They are my children,) and I have lots of Pusheen socks and t-shirts. (I'm a 30 year old Goth.) I also collect TY Halloween beanie boos and other assorted Halloween themed plushies.

Harry Potter merch, my pride and joy being a replica of Severus Snape's wand. (Also have some socks and t-shirts and a dark green skirt I got from EMP that I love.) Linked to that is anything Hufflepuff or Severus related (obviously...)

Make up and nail polish. My next collecting goal is to finish getting the I 🖤 Revolution angel, dragon, mermaid and unicorn collections, Barry M molten metals and under the sea nail polish collections and the NYX liquid suede metallic liquid lipstick and strictly vinyl lipgloss collections. (No pressure then.)

Bananalanacake · 25/05/2019 23:40

Lego figures

BrylcreamBeret · 25/05/2019 23:50

Toys, I absolutely adore toys. I could move in to Hamleys quite happily. Within the genre though it has to be puppets. I play with puppets and they have names and voices, my son loves to have his bedtime stories read by them all, the best one is Luigi but he's very naughty. This thread has made me all warm and fuzzy inside Blush

riotlady · 25/05/2019 23:57

I collect old Agatha Christie books (not Poirot ones though, I hate the little git)

Dragonlight · 26/05/2019 00:40

AbstractConfusion I have PM you. :)

Tatiannatomasina · 26/05/2019 00:46

Starbucks mugs, DH collects police badges and memorabilia.

Giggorata · 26/05/2019 01:29

Hatpins, cloisonné, masks, some taxidermy and skulls. I collect tarot card decks, too and I have, ahem, a number of dolls houses and about 100 dolls house dolls....

Oddlookingeyes · 26/05/2019 01:40

Not my collection, but my Dad collects radox shower gel. He is trying to get them all and they have their own dedicated shelf in my parents bathroom. About 25 varieties at the moment. He does not use them.

This is a source of mystery to all the family, no other hoarding or collecting history. It is so utterly random... Grin

Oddlookingeyes · 26/05/2019 01:42

And in answer to the OP original question, yes we do make fun of him !

Rockmysocks · 26/05/2019 07:33

Pens and stationery
Fabric
Wool
Baking paraphernalia

And if I find something I love, I will want to buy two of them...
(My mum used to regularly chuck out things she decided I didn't need or use any more. Was frequently gutted to get home from school to find favourite things being burned).

HomeEdRocks18 · 26/05/2019 11:38
