To be gutted about the weather next week

Total first world problem but I’m still disappointed!
We booked a little holiday cottage for half term in wales. We saved hard for it and booked May instead of Easter as the weather is usually better. Well it’s going to be 14 degrees and rainy ☹️
I know I’m lucky to be able to afford a holiday and the weather can never be guaranteed and all that but my visions of days on the beach are dashed ☹️

It could still change, the weather has been very unsettled recently!

newtlover · 21/05/2019 22:29

Bah!
14 deg is warm
are you not British or something?

Iggypoppie · 21/05/2019 22:30

Cagoules will see you right

RussellSprout · 21/05/2019 22:32

We've booked a holiday on Wales the week after and if it stays like that, Rhyl Sun Centre will be our saviour! I don't suppose you'll be anywhere near Rhyl?

janetforpresident · 21/05/2019 22:34

Yabu for expecting it not to rain in Wales.

hazeyjane · 21/05/2019 22:35

We are camping....
It's our first holiday since this half term last year (had to cancel Summer holiday when ds burnt his leg badly).
So need a fucking holiday.

Gertie75 · 21/05/2019 22:36

My favourite topic.

It's not just next week it's every bloody weekend, we've got a caravan and I'm sick of working while there's blue skies outside then Friday arrives along with a weather front that hangs around until Sunday evening then vanishes to leave another sunny week.

whiteroseredrose · 21/05/2019 22:36

Some of my best and most memorable holidays were in Wales in the rain. Paddling in the sea with an anorak on. Steaming with a hot chocolate afterwards. There are also loads of activities you can do there as it's well prepared for bad weather!

Gertie75 · 21/05/2019 22:39

The forecast does often change though and is only reliable for a couple of days in advance.

ExCwmbranDweller · 21/05/2019 22:39

Where in Wales are you, might be able to give you some wet weather pointers for fun expeditions if you are in my neck of the woods. Also even if it's a bit damp it will still be beautiful and going to the beach with decent water proofs is fun, it will be warm enough to go barefoot and if there's rain making dams in little streams that cross the beach is great, especially the bit where you get to breach them.

DHhasahobbyanditsnotcycling · 21/05/2019 22:40

YABU

It's not that the weather is not guaranteed, it's more thank likely to be miserable and raining than anything else in this country.

Hopefully it won't.

piefacedClique · 21/05/2019 22:42

Where in wales? We have lots to see rain or shine!

TapasForTwo · 21/05/2019 22:48

14 deg is warm

If you are an eskimo Grin

ExCwmbranDweller · 21/05/2019 22:50

Or live in Wales Tapas Grin

Honeyroar · 21/05/2019 22:52

It said it would rain here this week, it's been glorious. They could be wrong about next week too. Don't worry about it.

Cherrysoup · 21/05/2019 22:54

Yabu. Wales? You know why it’s really green and gorgeous, right? ☔️

GiantKitten · 21/05/2019 22:56

Anyway it's really too early for an accurate forecast for next week Smile. 5 days is as reliable as they get & even that can change (consequence of being a smallish island!)

So don't despair!

justasking111 · 21/05/2019 22:59

The weather varies so much depending on what part of Wales you are going to. There is a microclimate running from Rhyl to Penmaenmawr. The rain falls onto the mountains as the clouds rise hence us having palm trees. Inland up in the hills it can be much wetter and cooler.

mumwon · 21/05/2019 23:00

centre of alternative technology (my dc loved it), national botanic gardens of wales (large area inside showing different environments) lots of wonderful castles, small seaside towns, visit Portmeirion its like an Italian Village, etc etc etc

mumwon · 21/05/2019 23:04

& holidays in UK - pack microfleece, pack a anorak, & vests & light weight cardigan/jumper, plus t shirts! & that's for a single day :) lots to see!

MrsDrudge · 21/05/2019 23:08

If the worst comes to the worst -
You don’t have to get up for work
Beaches can be fun even in rain/ bad weather - kite flying, rock pool dipping, paddling , building dams/castles, scavenger hunts, etc, followed by hot drinks in cafe.
Indoor games - building dens, hide and seek, charades, board games, books, drawing, writing games, indoor treasure hunt. Enjoy being together with no pressure.

UrsulaPandress · 21/05/2019 23:09

Rain has been forecast nearly every day for the past week in the North West of England. My wildlife pond and I are still waiting.

Which part of Wales? If it's Anglesey the weather tends to blow past.

EstuaryBird · 21/05/2019 23:12

If it makes you feel any better I’m taking a dozen Cubs camping for the whole week........

AdaColeman · 21/05/2019 23:14

If it’s raining set off to visit one of the spectacular Welsh waterfalls. Whereabouts will you be staying?

RottnestFerry · 21/05/2019 23:21

We were in Wales a couple of weeks ago. The forecast was four days of drizzle inter dispersed with heavy rain showers. The reality was dry and mostly sunny.
