To be gutted about the weather next week

Total first world problem but I’m still disappointed!
We booked a little holiday cottage for half term in wales. We saved hard for it and booked May instead of Easter as the weather is usually better. Well it’s going to be 14 degrees and rainy ☹️
I know I’m lucky to be able to afford a holiday and the weather can never be guaranteed and all that but my visions of days on the beach are dashed ☹️

We're going to Greece next week and the forecast is crap there too, so comfort yourself you're spending far, far less than us for the same experience

dottiedodah · 22/05/2019 08:56

Agree with Mrs Drudge .Look on the bright side ,you are in a different county (one not renowned for its hot weather tbh)!.Just make the most of it ,If near big town go window shopping(Cardiff is great).Have some lunch and just chill out!

VeganCow · 22/05/2019 08:56

We camp in Anglesey several times a year. It sometimes rains overnight but we have never once been rained off pitch. Bad wind made us leave late one night before we were due to leave next morning. Its often grey at 6 am and by 10 beautiful sun and blue sky. It can be windy so take warm coats. As we drive there through Conwy we usually leave rain behind us in the northwest and enter blue skies. Happens a lot, so ignore the weather forecast. We risked camping once when all the weather apps were telling us it was going to be horrid weather, and it didn't rain once!

VeganCow · 22/05/2019 08:58

Also were were camping at Rhosneigr this Easter and the weather was gorgeous.

stillworkingitout · 22/05/2019 09:00

Currently in Cornwall (came for a wedding). I was annoyed last week as the forecast was looking dreadful, but we’ve spent the last 4 days on the beach. It’s not as warm as it might be some years in May but it’s sunny and pleasant and the kids are having a great time. Sunny again this morning, and I’m actually feeling a bit blah about the beach but I suspect that’s where we are going...

It’s too early to tell what the weather will be next week, but you’re going on holiday to make memories and you can still do that in the rain

x2boys · 22/05/2019 09:01

We went to Treaurrdur bay a couple of years ago ,it was September so quiet but a very lovely place to visit, are you eating in those Hoeseasons, Bungalows?

x2boys · 22/05/2019 09:07

Staying,not eating*

poorbuthappy · 22/05/2019 09:10

I do often wonder how the weather knows the difference between a weekday and a weekend, especially a bank holiday weekend!

Laburnum arch is out at bodnant

themiddlestair · 22/05/2019 09:34

I disagree with this. I wouldn't make a special trip to cardiff city centre.
It's not beautiful, not got great shops and feels more like a slightly run down town than a city. It just doesn't have that city buzz.

Sorry Cardiff

UrsulaPandress · 22/05/2019 09:37

OP will be nowhere near Cardiff.

leghairdontcare · 22/05/2019 09:38

Cardiff is great but I wouldn't recommend a day trip from Anglesey!

I'm off to porthcawl next week, it's going to be lush!

hsegfiugseskufh · 22/05/2019 09:53

we went away for the weekend to Northumberland and the forecast was absolutely shite, cold and raining all weekend. As it happened, it only rained for a couple of hours all weekend, and was warm enough that outside activities were pleasant. We didn't need big coats! There is hope for you yet!

InglouriousBasterd · 22/05/2019 09:59

Eh?! Cardiff is a massive shopping destination now since it was redeveloped. Also has beautiful architecture.

Not that it’s anywhere near Anglesey 😂

RottnestFerry · 22/05/2019 09:59

Bad wind made us leave late one night before we were due to leave next morning

That's never pleasant in a confined space like a tent.

x2boys · 22/05/2019 10:01

Just Googled, Cardiff,is 195 miles from Treaurdurr bay .....

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 22/05/2019 10:04

I went on holiday at Easter to Scotland and before I went the weather forecast was awful - just rain every single day. Then it miraculously changed to hot and sunny which it was! So don't give up hope. But I agree, I wish we had more reliable weather in this country. The only place it ever seems to be nice is the SE and I have no desire to go on holiday there.

PinkHeartLovesCake · 22/05/2019 10:07

Well you did book Wales it was bound to rain tbh

Don’t get me wrong Wales has many beautiful places and I’ve stayed in many lovely places over the years in Wales but I have never been Wales when it didn’t rain at least lightly every day

Cryalot2 · 22/05/2019 10:23

I feel sorry for you. Everyone likes good weather on holiday.
I hope weather is good next week .( husbands job ) .He did hear it was to be a dry week.

themiddlestair · 22/05/2019 18:17

The phrase, 'it's all relative comes to mind'. It might be a massive shopping destination to those in Wales, - just like Inverness was THE major entertainment, shopping and leisure destination when I was in the Highlands - that doesn't mean it compares well to lots of other major cities, and certainly not to other capital cities, an .

Sorry, it just doesn't.

InglouriousBasterd · 23/05/2019 20:57

Well I love Cardiff as a city and rate the shopping and everything it offers - and I live in London, so on the ‘all relative’ point it can’t be that bad.

MsTSwift · 23/05/2019 21:01

It’s hot in Greece

SirVixofVixHall · 23/05/2019 21:25

Cardiff has always been a nice city to live in. I have lived in Cardiff and in London, and Cardiff has lots going on, but is far friendlier and easy to navigate as the centre isn’t large.
