Neighbour staring?

Diamondeye · 21/05/2019 20:39

I live in a flat but it only has a ground and first floor (8 flats in total).

A new(ish) neighbour has moved in upstairs and she seems to be a home a lot. Each time I park up, or walk back to my car to get my shopping etc ... she’s there staring at me from the window. Will look away but then always looks back again.

Creeps me out. Aibu?

Yes.

HTH.

Shouldershrugger · 21/05/2019 20:41

Just wave next time... but it is a bit creepy

RedHelenB · 21/05/2019 20:41

Yes a bit. She may not really be looking at you, more daydreaming.

LucyAutumn · 21/05/2019 20:43

Blow her a kiss Wink

1CantPickAName · 21/05/2019 20:45

She sounds like your garden variety curtain twitcher. At least you know there will be someone watching out if your car gets nicked!

SpecterLitt · 21/05/2019 22:41

I really doubt she's looking at you, more likely someone that just looks out their window often to see what's going on. Of course you happen to see her do this when you're out and about. Relax, her exchanging eyes with you won't destroy your life.. you will be ok.

But to answer your question, yes you are being unreasonable because this is a non-issue.

Bluerussian · 21/05/2019 22:45

She probably doesn't mean to stare. Smile and wave.

bakebakebake · 21/05/2019 22:52

My neighbour opposite me is always staring out her bedroom window, where she has full view into our back garden.

We go out of the back door as it's easier. One morning i noticed her staring as i was locking the door so i stared back.

She waved! I couldn't believe that she'd been caught staring at us then bloody waved!

DH feels like he can't even sit in the garden in his dressing gown when he has a cigarette because she appears!

Cherrysoup · 21/05/2019 22:52

How about you wave next time like a normal person? My mil used to love looking out of the window at the trees waving in the breeze and people walking past. She couldn’t get out so treated the view like tv.

Nevermind nosey staring neighbour you just got given more than a whole pack of jammie Dodgers! Grin

CheeseInACake · 21/05/2019 23:03

Our last house, the neighbour opposite used to sit in his chair in the window watching our comings and goings. It creeped me out, and we planted bushes to give us some privacy. It's horrible knowing you're being watched all the time.

Villanellesproudmum · 21/05/2019 23:05

I work from home and from our spare bedroom my neighbours probably think I’m weird sitting in a bedroom all day, sure there are times when I day dream as well.

Dodie66 · 21/05/2019 23:15

I think a lot of people are lonely and like to watch the world go by.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 21/05/2019 23:22

Yeah I hear you.

I have a neighbour who actually stops her car outside my window to have a good stare.
She will also stop in her tracks if we are both leaving the house at the same time and stands and stare and when I say hello just gets into her car.
She's very weird all around tbh. Cold and distant except to the males on the road. She speaks to them.
