I want to put together a playlist for my DD as she has a horrendously difficult time ahead of her (you can search my username to see why) I am hoping it will help her in some way...calm her. Take her mind off things.

Some of mine have been mentioned (Bach Double Violin Concerto, Mozart Requiem and Purcell Dido and Aeneas) but I would add Er Barme Dich from Bach's St Matthew Passion and Purcell's Music for a While, Vedro con milo Diletto by Vivaldi, preferably sung by Philippe Jaroussky, Vivaldi's Concerto for Piccolo, violin and strings crv443 and the Kyrie Eleison from Bach's Mass in B Minor.

Shamelessly place marking

Witchend · 19/05/2019 22:53

Vltava (possibly not that spelling) is one of my favourites.
I also love 1812 overture. Especially ds' reaction when I showed him a clip of a concert (outside) where they actually used cannons.

Corneliawildthing · 19/05/2019 22:54

The piece that my son composed for his sister to walk down the aisle to a couple of weeks ago. It was called Forever and Always.
Ok so maybe I am a little biased but it was beautiful.

TildaKauskumholm · 19/05/2019 22:58

Allegri's Miserere, Barber's Adagio, Pachebel's Canon in D, Handel's Messiah.

SheilaHammond · 19/05/2019 23:03

Abenlied by Rheinberger

Locus Iste by Bruckner

Ruth Wohl...last bit of Bach St John Passion

HeronLanyon · 19/05/2019 23:04

Kuda kuda aria from eugene onegin Tchaikovsky.
Bach double violin concerto.

Litanies Alain (organ).

Nothing new to add. Great thread.

redbedheadd · 19/05/2019 23:06

*Any Spotify users... I've added about half of these to a playlist.
*
*It's called Mumsnet Classical Favourites.

It should be public and collaborative if anyone wants to add to it!*

Haven’t read the full thread yet (I will!) so not sure if it’s been mentioned but Arvo Pärt - Spiegel im Spiegel. The simplicity of it just cuts right through me.

WoollyMummoth · 19/05/2019 23:12

Pachebel Canon is gorgeous. I walked down the aisle to it on my wedding day. Happy memories.😊

Jennbot · 19/05/2019 23:13

I hate all the noise of the city, ( loud people, people on phones, songs in shops, flip flops really annoy me. ) and listen to Mozart's Requim Mass via earphones to keep me relaxed.

AngeloMysterioso · 19/05/2019 23:14

That awkward moment when you spend ages clicky linking songs and checking the clicky links work only to find someone started a playlist whilst you were busy doing clicky links!

Reaah · 19/05/2019 23:14

John Barry

Scene unseen

Unfortunately, I can't find it on you tube but it's the most beautiful piece, I have ever heard, so I really hope someone else can find it.

Zhx3 · 19/05/2019 23:15

There are so many beautiful pieces of music mentioned here already. Sending you and your dd my best wishes, OP.

I'll include a few which I haven't seen mentioned but which you might like:

(I especially love the 2nd movement, the Canzonetta)
PurpleFlower1983 · 19/05/2019 23:16

Vide Cor Meum - Hans Zimmer

redbedheadd I couldn't find the playlist searching by its name, I had to search for your Spotify username which is visible in the screenshot you posted. Well done for starting it. Smile

Reaah · 19/05/2019 23:38

HeronLanyon I don't get any results when I search.

HeronLanyon · 19/05/2019 23:43

Album is called ‘playing by heart’ it’s also called a ‘soundtrack’ which seems odd ?? Definitely available amazon.co.uk
