Nah the venom to the writers is because since they've moved away from the books, the script and pacing has been woeful. It used to take at least 2 episodes to travel from the north to kings landing, now they're jumping across the world in minutes.
Also the clever characters used to actually say clever things (such as Tyrion, Varys and Cersei), because the clever lines were lifted directly from the books. Now we can only rely on the fact that everyone tells us they're clever rather than seeing it for ourselves through their witticisms or actions. E.g. Tyrion's very stupid advice in the last two seasons (the seasons away from the books) has lost Danaerys pretty much all her armies and allowed her to be outsmarted by Cersei several times.
Also the inconsistency is ridiculous. One dragon gets killed immediately in one episode by the spears (And for some reason Denearys could not see the boats although she is flying above them and was ambushed by the same fleet in the same way last season). Yet in the last episode, she was able to avoid every single spear and singlehandedly invade and destroy kings landing with one dragon. If she could win on her own with one dragon, what the fuck was the point in her accumulating armies in seasons 3-6? She didn't need an army, she had 3 dragons. The game of thrones should have ended at season 4 when her dragons were fully grown.
How did half of the northern and danaerys' armies survive the battle with the white walkers?
Who was the night king and why did they spend 7 seasons building up winter is coming and the battle for him to be killed off in one episode with no explanation as to what he wanted, who he was, and why he was there?
Jon Snow was meant to be Ahor Azai, the one who was promised, yet he had little to do in the actual battle with the night king, his Dragon is dead, he ignored his direwolf and has spent this season repeating the lines "I don't want it" " you're my queen".
Both big reveals about Jon's true parentage to his siblings and Tyrion were cut off. The writers were too lazy to give us their reaction to go the biggest secret of the whole franchise
I could go on but all I can say is lazy, lazy writing, massive plot holes and inconsistencies have ruined the past two seasons.
Don't get me wrong, the acting is still great and the production is beautiful but I became a fan of GoT for the clever script, the political manouvering and complex characters and their arcs. Without that it, GoT is just an average action movie in TV format.
