12 and a half stone?

I'm trying to lose weight at present, my goal is about 11st. I'm currently 12.5. I know I am overweight, however I'm a size 12-14 so I don't think I'm massive. I also exercise 4-5 times a week (2 10k runs plus cycling/ rowing/ uphill walking/ weights etc).

Recently I was out with a friend and mentioned what I weigh.

OMG says friend , I wouldn't have said you weighed THAT much!

AIBU to feel a bit hurt? Is 12.5 stone really a lot?

No idea what friend weighs btw, but she is a size 18 and 6-7 inches shorter than me.

I’m 5”5 and the heaviest I’ve ever been was when I was pregnant and that was ten stone odd and I felt huge so 12.5 stone did initially sound like a lot to me but seeing the various photos of how people carry their weight has made me think differently.

I can't claim to be a fast runner. Currently it takes me about 65 mins to do 10k. I can do 5k in just under 30. I only started C25K (or my version of it) at the start of the year so I'm still working on improving my speed now I have the stamina to keep moving for 10k without stopping for a rest!

Shapewise I'm thin of arm (trying to build up my twig arms with weights!), but I have very muscly legs due to exercise. I'm also quite large boobed, 34gg currently. I definitely agree people carry their weight differently.

I'm trying not to be unrealistic with my weight. At 18 I was only about 10st. But I lived on cup a soups and options hot chocolate most of the time. I never ate bread, milk or cheese and was also a vegetarian. It wasn't a healthy way to be at all but it did keep my weight down. I would prefer now to be heavier and eat better.

I would take it as a compliment. Although it probably wasn't the most tactful thing for her to say...

People often say this to me. To be fair I think I am strangely heavy - I have a healthy body fat percentage and a reasonable amount of muscle mass so I know I'm healthy, but people often straight up accuse me of lying when I say how much I actually weigh.

You train a lot (great work btw) so I imagine you have a lot of muscle, which is denser than fat and may account for your result. Go by measurements rather than weight, and ignore those comments.

I'm 12 stone 7 and 5'11 and usually 10-12 on top and 12 mainly on bottom although sometimes a 14 depending on the shop. I think height comes in to it. I dont think I look really big but people are saying its very heavy so maybe I just don't see it I'm not sure!
