My son has SN. We applied for assessment over a year ago and still nothing is coming through. Nada. Even if it's granted it's the start of a looooong process to actually get him any help. It's torture. I'm literally so worried and concerned for him it's making me ill. Also broke from the private therapy's we have to fork out for as nothing is being done within the NHS our taxes are paying for.

I'm sure there are thousands like us out there.

Are you not taking the LA to tribunal? If nothing has happened in over a year they have massively exceeded the time scales so assessment would be expected through tribunal after that length of time even if there is no decision to issue.

Did you go to mediation? We had a good outcome but I know that's not a given. The government need to provide money for LAs to assess as a statutory obligation rather it coming from LA budgets.

The whole process is a farce. We are just about to finalise the plan from last years annual review - the next annual review is due in July and a recent change in circumstances means changes will be needed then! It’s never ended

The key is keep shouting. It’s wrong but “she who shouts loudest gets” seems to be sadly right here

Wouldn't it be great if a lazy journalist picked this thread up & gave it some publicity. But they won't because it's not a sex, booze & argument filled sensational story.

OP ask hq to change the title of the thread because some people won't click on vague titles. I nearly didn't click on it because it wasn't clear what the thread was about.
