Not a pearl clutcher in general, but am in two minds on this one...

Yesterday on the (very crammed) train home there were a group of about a dozen blokes essentially effing and blinding and cunting at top volume all the way home, just generally being very vocally laddish and objectionable. Including having a great old joke at the "jumper" who had caused the problems the line that evening.

My little cousin was with me, but I still chickened out in contronting them and as per usual did the very British thing of seething impotently instead.

They were all in their company polo shirts.

Part of me really wants to contact their company and let them know about it. Part of me thinks I'm sounding like a grumpy old women before my time.

Looking to Mumsnetters to give my head a wobble either way on this!

Anything that can be done to educate people that this type of behaviour is totally inconsiderate and out of order, is fair enough as far as I am concerned. I am fed up with loud, aggressive groups of men disturbing others in public places. I wouldn't give a shit what happens to them I'm afraid, serves them right for acting like assholes.

Chocolate50 · 17/05/2019 18:46

Yep I would feel the same way its not ok to put people through that. I don't blame you for not saying anything either. I wouldn't have as you don't know what abuse you'll get back.

Catsinthecupboard · 17/05/2019 19:05

If you are wearing a company uniform, you are representing your company.

They are not good representatives.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 17/05/2019 19:07

Reported the bin men..... Wow. You must take that stick out of your arse sometime.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 17/05/2019 19:12

If im in workwear im on my best behaviour. They will get in trouble for that im sure. But without video its your word against theres as to what was said. I would of filmed it.

They weren't private.

nuxe1984 · 17/05/2019 19:56

I would just send an email to the company saying you were disappointed with the language and behaviour of a group of their employers on the train. Can say that they all had company shirts on so you knew who they worked for.

nuxe1984 · 17/05/2019 19:57

cloudyforest

If they're in company clothing they're representing the company! Regardless of whether it's working hours or not.

di2004 · 17/05/2019 20:20

If they were out of order then yes, report them. They were in company uniform and they wrong to be carrying on like hooligans.

KOKOtiltomorrow · 17/05/2019 20:23

OP..... given your username, which is quite crude, are you being ironic???

Chocolate50 · 17/05/2019 20:24

Cloudyforest - as an employer YOU might not give a shit but there are companies out there that would

Yura · 17/05/2019 20:25

I would want to know that if they were part of my team. If they are in company clothes, they represent the company!

GabsAlot · 17/05/2019 21:01

So i cant report bad driving even when its a company vehicle and they look like theyre goin to crash?

Op i think its fine to just maybe email them and say what you heard -they want to act like dicks they should do it in their own clothes

Contraceptionismyfriend · 17/05/2019 21:11

I find it hilarious that people will be disgusted with someone reporting another for benefit fraud but this is fine to report.

Cherrysoup · 17/05/2019 21:40

I’d report, no different from messages on a van asking ‘How’s my driving?’ If you emailed in saying ‘You drive like a cunt, you nearly crashed into me doing blah blah blah’ then what’s the difference? They deserve a bollocking for their shocking behaviour. Carrying on like that in front of kids and other people who couldn’t get away from them is intimidating and inappropriate. It puts the company in a poor light. I’d avoid them if I ever saw an advert in the future.

limitedperiodonly · 17/05/2019 21:44

I'm a senior manager and director of a large company, and to be frank, I couldn't give a shiny shite what my employees get up to outside work. The way I see it is if they're not getting paid, I have no right to dictate what they can and cannot do.

But it doesn't matter what you think CloudyForest because in today's climate you might be swept away on a Friday and replaced by someone who does give a shiney shite on a Monday.

And these men were in company uniform. People should not do stupid things in corporate clothing or should take the consequences.

InABigCountry · 17/05/2019 21:49

I would report them. I'm not allowed to wear my uniform outside of work. If I did wear it and someone reported me for bad behaviour I would get diciplined. Not that I would shout and swear in public.

InABigCountry · 17/05/2019 21:51

*disciplined

hellodarkness · 17/05/2019 21:54

"I find it hilarious that people will be disgusted with someone reporting another for benefit fraud but this is fine to report."

I wouldn't get involved in someone's private financial affairs, none of my business and no real way of knowing whether a fraud is being committed (unless you have access to their bank details I suppose).

This group of foul mouthed obnoxious arses weren't being private, and I'd know for sure that they'd done what I was reporting them for (being obnoxious foul mouthed arses).

I find it hilarious when people start their sentence with 'I find it hilarious...'

emjayO · 18/05/2019 00:04

Are you really that offended about bad language and poor taste jokes, when your identification name on MUMSNET is “sticky white love piss”?

omione · 18/05/2019 00:46

I used to run my own small company and i would have wanted to know about the conduct of my workforce if the were in uniform. My DH ran his own building company and can swear with the best of them but he too would go up the wall if his lads acted like that in public, but to be honest he would no doubt have given them a bollocking where every second word was a swear word !

hellodarkness · 18/05/2019 06:31

"Are you really that offended about bad language and poor taste jokes, when your identification name on MUMSNET is “sticky white love piss”?"

OP has already said it went way beyond what you describe and that she's never been offended by swearing or banter.

BillywilliamV · 18/05/2019 06:35

My company would definitely be interested in employees behaving badly whilst wearing our uniform. Doubt we’d get more than a stiff round robin Email though.

You are a pearl clutcher for sure
