Does anyone know what this type of door knob/lock is called and where they can be purchased?

Thanks.

I also thought it was about 🍆 and not 🚪 knobs 🤦🏼‍♀️

Aquamarine1029 · 15/05/2019 22:47

Well, this ruined my day.

Iamtheworst · 15/05/2019 22:48

Yes! My house growing up had them, architectural salvage have them, and they are called ... well I’ve forgotten and consider how many hours they were discussed I can’t beleice that. It’ll come back to me

Get your minds out the gutter!

It could be Bakelite (an early plastic) and you might be able to get them from a second hand shop or reclamation yard.

TrixieFranklin · 15/05/2019 22:49

Flanged rim locks.. which also sounds a bit dirty.

yermawyabas · 15/05/2019 22:49

I'm sad this wasn't about dicks.

PanamaPattie · 15/05/2019 22:49

It's a Smith & Locke Traditional rim sashlock. Available at Screw Fix I believe.

fibbertygibbit · 15/05/2019 22:50

It's a -not M&S- disgustingly vulgar netto knob Angry

CrispbuttyNo1 · 15/05/2019 22:50

It's not bake lite, it's a brass knob on an iron fitting.

SignedUpJust4This · 15/05/2019 22:50

If found bakelight knobs but none with locks like this.

A rim lock I think, I’m slightly disappointed this thread is about door knobs.

Gingernaut · 15/05/2019 22:51

Another vote for rim lock. Fnar, fnar!

CrispbuttyNo1 · 15/05/2019 22:51

I knew exactly what op was talking about, honest! Wink.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/05/2019 22:52

Is there something weird about the perspective in that picture?

Like the table in front of the door being tiny or the knob being massive (oo-er missus).

I think the knob is some sort of latch - similar looking things here:

I'd post a link to Screwfix, but their website seems to be down. Usually similar stuff to B&Q but cheaper and better selection, plus you don't have to hunt the thing down in the shop yourself.

fibbertygibbit · 15/05/2019 22:52

flanged? can't breathe! and yes I'm embarrassing myself Grin

SignedUpJust4This · 15/05/2019 22:53

OK. Just gimme a min while I Google knob rim flanges...

OP posts:
CheshireChat · 15/05/2019 22:53

Could you take the photo to B&Q or similar? The floor staff is often quite knowledgeable so should be able to help.

The thread title did make me laugh though WinkGrin

SignedUpJust4This · 15/05/2019 22:53

Yes my DH says its all about perspective when you photograph a knob
