To find the new Cadbury's dark adverts irritating?

The ones with Jason Donovan and Kim Wilde.

I find them annoying firstly, because I feel like they are aimed at my age (40s) so they just picked any old famous person from the 1980s, put them in a fake house and thought right that'll do for the old people's chocolate. Patronising.

Secondly, because the chocolate looks rank, I bet it's all slimy, greasy, tasteless and sweet because of the palm oil. Why not have chili or salt or something.

That also means that they think no one actually cares what their chocolate tastes like, if they are appealing to more discerning older people with mature palettes like they're making out, shouldn't they at least mention the ingredients or make the chocolate sound nice.

I seem to be finding this way more irritating than it warrants, look at the length of this post!

YABU. The chocolate tastes awesome. Try it before criticising..?

kenandbarbie · 15/05/2019 19:35

Good point. What's it like?

OP posts:
funnylittlefloozie · 15/05/2019 19:35

If thats the darkmilk stuff you're talking about, it doesnt contain palm oil. Thats the whole point of it.

kenandbarbie · 15/05/2019 19:36

Are you sure, I'm so pissed off about regular dairy milk now tasting foul. I must be projecting!

OP posts:
Lazypuppy · 15/05/2019 19:38

So you're complaining about something you haven't even tried?

Gomyownway · 15/05/2019 19:38

It tasted cheap when I tried it. Wasn’t into it at all.

Thesunrising · 15/05/2019 19:38

I haven’t seen the tv advert, but I’m annoyed as I keep seeing posters but have yet to find a single shop or supermarket that actually sells it.

Gomyownway · 15/05/2019 19:39

It literally says on the ingredients list it contains palm fats

RattyTat · 15/05/2019 19:40

I've seen it in Tesco and Morrisons and Asda was full of the stuff today.

Jojoanna · 15/05/2019 19:42

I think they are funny

werideatdawn · 15/05/2019 20:04

I tried it, it's rank.

Spanglybangles · 15/05/2019 20:12

We got samples of it at work and I checked the label and there was no mention of palm oil/fats. It doesn’t taste too bad, better than dairy milk anyway.

Spanglybangles · 15/05/2019 20:14

From the Cadbury website

INGREDIENTS

Sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, skimmed MILK powder, MILK fat, emulsifier (SOYA lecithin), natural vanilla flavouring.
MAY CONTAIN NUTS.

upthetop · 15/05/2019 20:14

Saw loads of it in Asda today & they seem to have all different types.

SandAndSeals · 15/05/2019 20:18

YABU to have a rant about the taste and texture of something you’ve not tried and complain about ingredients without even looking at the ingredients list.

It does taste okay, actually. Doesn’t have that foul aftertaste of normal Dairy Milk.

MrsCakeTheMedium · 15/05/2019 20:47

Haven't tried it, but only because I haven't seen it in a shop yet. I like the adverts. I think they're funny. So YABU.

Fiveredbricks · 15/05/2019 20:51

Yes, yanbu especially because he is so washed up it's actually off-putting and I'd never buy the chocolate because he's on the advert, frankly. Isn't he also known to be one for the fresh ski slopes? 🤔 Very odd choice of marketing by cadbury there.

Fiveredbricks · 15/05/2019 20:53

Wait... So Cadbury have scrapped Palm Oil in their adult chocolate and have just made original dairy milk again? 🤔 Under a new label?

Arses.

x2boys · 15/05/2019 21:01

Lol.I haven't tried the chocolate but was the advert with Jason Donnavan yesterday it's hilarious imo, and definitely aimed at a generation of 40+ loved the advert not sure about the chocolate😂

x2boys · 15/05/2019 21:02

Saw ffs,changed auto correct twice!

ThisIsTheEndgame · 15/05/2019 21:04

Isn't it basically a.New Name.Old Dairy Milk?

Andcake · 15/05/2019 21:17

Hate the ads for same reason as op. Doesn't speak to me as a 40 something. Don't plan to try it there is dark chocolate I love which I'm happy to stick with

pollywollydoodler · 15/05/2019 21:23

Not seen the ads but love the Darkmilk chocolate 😋
Have switched from Green and Black
No palm oils and no skanky aftertaste, what's not to like

pollywollydoodler · 15/05/2019 21:24

There's an almond one and a caramel one too, not tried them though

KitschBitch · 15/05/2019 21:42

Hated what they did to the old choc, this tastes heaps better.
