To find the new Cadbury's dark adverts irritating?

The ones with Jason Donovan and Kim Wilde.

I find them annoying firstly, because I feel like they are aimed at my age (40s) so they just picked any old famous person from the 1980s, put them in a fake house and thought right that'll do for the old people's chocolate. Patronising.

Secondly, because the chocolate looks rank, I bet it's all slimy, greasy, tasteless and sweet because of the palm oil. Why not have chili or salt or something.

That also means that they think no one actually cares what their chocolate tastes like, if they are appealing to more discerning older people with mature palettes like they're making out, shouldn't they at least mention the ingredients or make the chocolate sound nice.

I seem to be finding this way more irritating than it warrants, look at the length of this post!

No palm oil and a nice taste to the dark milk. So you lose that bet about it tasting slimy, greasy and tasteless.

alittleprivacy · 15/05/2019 22:08

No palm oil but very, very, very sweet. It's kind of like Dairy Milk crossed with Bournville with added sugar. It's not great. And it's very expensive. Aldi Dairyfine is nicer and closer to old Dairy Milk.

Just as alittleprivacy described it.
Don't waste your money. I actually didn't finish the bar (shocking for me!)

Gigglinghysterically · 15/05/2019 22:24

Just googled for the ingredients and palm oil not mentioned at all. DH came home with samples from work. I love it - it's really smooth, creamy and chocolatey. Much better than CDM which does have palm oil in it.

honeyman · 15/05/2019 22:30

Still tastes yuck and leaves a condescending after taste

ssd · 15/05/2019 22:32

I like the adverts.

rookiemere · 15/05/2019 22:33

I don't like it, nasty taste to it and took me 3 days to eat the bar.

ittooshallpass · 15/05/2019 22:35

I thought the Jason advert was hilarious. It actually made me go and buy they chocolate. I really like it. Just wish it was more chunky because I'm a greedy pig.

stopitandtidyupp · 15/05/2019 22:36

I love the ads as I lobe Jason Donovan Smile

Ontheboardwalk · 15/05/2019 22:42

Last post crashed

I love Kim (i wanted to be on that tube singing) and words can’t describe my love for Jason. The adverts really leave me cold though. Especially for nasty Cadbury's.

Cheeserton · 15/05/2019 22:45

A 'condescending aftertaste'? Hmm

BlackPrism · 15/05/2019 22:45

It's 0 palm oil and is actually lovely. Our new favourite chocolate. It's 40% cocoa too

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 15/05/2019 22:49

The OP complaining that the chocolate is greasy and disgusting before even trying it actually sums up MN attitudes towards Cadbury products. They all must be revolting , even if they aren't.

BlackPrism · 15/05/2019 22:50

@Fiveredbricks it's darker than dairy milk (40% rather than 20%) so is richer. It's not original dairy milk at all...

ssd · 16/05/2019 07:24

The op has jumped on the let's slate Cadburys bandwagon.

Sirzy · 16/05/2019 07:27

I was very disappointed when I tried it. At best it was “meh” wont be wasting money buying it again

Thymeout · 16/05/2019 08:16

This thread is doing a great job in advertising what sounds like something I'd like. My favourite choc is Whittaker's from NZ. Half-way between milk and dark. I don't like posh dark choc, but ordinary dairy milk is too sweet and not chocolatey enough.

Haven't seen the ads. I wouldn't say that older customers have more discerning palates, just that they remember chocolate as it used to be before palm oil. Nothing to get offended about.

Mumberjack · 16/05/2019 08:19

The chocolate is delicious (it’s different to the old dairy milk...it’s my current favourite and I like a lot!)

Adverts are shite though.
