I have watched this WAYYY too much. But there must be others like me out there.

To start...

  • Ben disappears.
  • Rachel's dad smokes but with her smoking episodes she says she doesn't because her dad's a doctor and told her horror stories about it.

And speaking as someone who had a baby via ivf after a long painful journey of infertility i really didnt like how the writers handled the infertility issue with monica and Chandler. Was really poorly done imho.

Showing Monica's kitchen window for those asking above lol.

dayswithaY · 17/05/2019 20:56

I totally agree with when they jumped the shark. I always stop watching when we get to the London episode - all downhill from there. Some episodes are so poor - like Ross on roller skates and the Pottery Barn nonsense - it lost its original charm and they all became so unlikeable.

GabsAlot · 17/05/2019 21:46

@dannywallace that always bugged me aswell when Joey says she was looking into my apratment aswell-Its the other side of the building!

I thought that sallie but they werent even mentioned in the episode

Osirus · 18/05/2019 00:13

Re Rachel’s long pregnancy, the writers explained that the series ended with her pregnant and then the following series started from where the last left off. Therefore, time wise she was pregnant for a long time but episode wise, it was normal.

The thing is here, is that she found out she was pregnant when Monica got married, which was in May. Thanksgiving is in November and she still doesn’t look pregnant. She then doesn’t have her baby until what appears to be the following summer, as it’s extremely hot and Rachel keeps complaining about the heat. So, following the story of the show and the flow of the episodes, she was pregnant for at least a year.

The producer’s explanation does not answer this at all.

And I agree with a previous poster: why was IVF not an option for Chandler and Monica?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 18/05/2019 00:53

The one that really bugs me is the Thanksgiving episode for some inexplicable reason Monica and Chandler decide they don’t want to host it, this is completely out of character for Monica “I’m always the Hostess” Gellar, drives me batty. Another thing that bugs me is when Ross says in a later episode “remember, when I had a monkey? What was all that about?” Marcel was a huge part of his life, it was a massive deal when he had to give him up, he then heard he wasn’t being treated well and tracked him down to the Zoo he was being kept at etc, and then to speak about him as if he was nothing and not even calling him by his name really annoyed me.

BethanyGilbert · 18/05/2019 09:07

The dress that Monica fights for is nothing like the dress she wears on her wedding day.

Similarly the dress that Monica picks up for Emily is nothing like the dress Emily wears......

The bit where Joey says something like ‘say no more, is she upstairs’ really infuriated me as I’d had a similar ‘joke’ made when I couldn’t get pregnant and I found it far from hilarious

Similarly when they get approved for adoption in about two hours

I never got how Phoebe got a positive pregnancy test a couple of hours after embryo transfer either

DannyWallace · 18/05/2019 09:51

Erica shows Monica and Chandler and scan photo. Hey none of them knew it was twins...

Also, all those high risk pregnancies and all natural births!

I know it can happen, but a breech birth, a twin birth and a triplet birth all with minimal pain relief (they were certainly able to move like they didn't have an epidural anyway!)

kierenthecommunity · 18/05/2019 09:53

Mine is a standard one for sitcoms in general, but when does Monica work?! She’s a chef then head chef who never seems to work in the evenings or weekends

My experience of knowing about being a chef in NYC all comes from Anthony Bourdain admittedly but from that it seemed to involve working 16 hour days and only having Monday off. And from working myself in restaurants around Xmas you’d be so knackered the last thing you’d want to do is host dinner.

Yet Monica is free for nights out, weekends away, shopping trips...

CanILeavenowplease · 18/05/2019 10:03

And I agree with a previous poster: why was IVF not an option for Chandler and Monica?

Forgive me if I have misunderstood, but it was described as Monica’s womb being an ‘inhospitable environment’. So even if they had been able to use IVF to get pregnant, staying pregnant would always have been a problem, surely?

AnneOfCleavage · 18/05/2019 11:02

CanILeave I think that the PP poster meant was if a sperm donor was an option how come IVF wasn't an option. Even with a sperm donor Monica's womb would have been inhospitable so wouldn't have worked. The writers messed up there.

I always wondered why Phoebe's brother didn't give her away as step dad was in prison and messed up his release by fighting the day before. Why weren't the triplets bridesmaids and page boy?

The floor plans are hilarious - where would the other apartments slot in? Also Joey's lounge could have had a balcony from that floor plan so wonder why they didn't put one in.

GoldenPineapples · 18/05/2019 11:03

The inconsistencies with some times visitors would show up at Monica's front door and other times she would have to buzz them into the building..

At the end they all gave back one key but wouldn't it be 2 keys if they needed 1 to get in the building?

AnneOfCleavage · 18/05/2019 11:35

Good point Golden. Joey and Phoebe handed their keys back to Monica whilst she went away on honeymoon so why did they again hand their keys back at the end? Would Monica really have had new keys cut for them all when the new door was put on (after Trigger had to barge his way in)?

It was a sweet touch at the end though so I feel we should let that one go 😂

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/05/2019 11:41

I thought the joke was that Monica didn't know they'd all had their own key cut?

Buddyelf · 19/05/2019 12:11

I’m watching the episode now where Chandler has to be in Tulsa for Christmas. So he’s in the office with his staff and it’s Christmas Eve. He says ‘at least tomorrow you’ll get to be with your families’.
He then gets a phone call from the rest of them and it’s Christmas Day there. There is only an hour time difference.
I thought, maybe it’s christmas Eve in New York too and they are opening gifts early but then Monica says to Chandler ‘here’s $20, get yourself something pretty while I’m in work tomorrow’. Hmm.

GoldenPineapples · 19/05/2019 13:21

They sort of changed phoebe's character over the years from hippy/alternative loyal kind of character to street wise bitch.

Later on they turned her into "street phoebe" which would be fine accept in the earlier series they painted her to be quite naive such as only realising "phebs" was short for phoebe in series 4 when pregnant.

It also isn't believable that someone who was upset by the ending of bad/sad films because her mother never let them see the ending of bad or sad films was then supposed to be the same woman who mugged teenage boys on the streets..

GoldenPineapples · 19/05/2019 13:26

Could you also imagine the AIBU if someone posted their wife had an affair with a woman who is now her partner and OW not only came to the scan but actually wants her surname as part of the baby's name! 😱

Icouldhavewrotethis · 19/05/2019 13:52

Watching Friends on Channel 5 and Rachel is dancing naked in front of the HUGE window in their living room, apparently unaware that any one might see her? But this is the same window that they've spied on ugly naked guy from (long running theme in Friends), discovered a neighbour is watching them with a telescope, watched Ross pretend to surf etc. Also the window ,that when she was in Ross's apartment, she had to distract him from seeing Chandler and Monica dtd through!
So why does she act shocked that Ross saw her?

Huggybear16 · 19/05/2019 17:14

In the episode where they have Emma's first birthday party, apparently there was some kind of mix up with the cake. The bakery put Emma's face on a penis cake. EMMA IS ONE! Why did the bakery not think to query this? Or even just refuse to put a baby's face on a penis? And why didn't anybody look at the cake before the party?

GabsAlot · 19/05/2019 21:25

It bugged me they never checked the cake when they picked it up stupid story

And yes rachel dancing naked in front of a window -oh no did you see me?

Yeah whatever

SalemSpellman · 20/05/2019 13:03

I watched the one with the poker this morning, Phoebe was outrage at the bluffing which she deemed as lying. Yet in the later series she revels in being a master liar.

GoldenPineapples · 20/05/2019 15:58

Oh yes the outrage from phoebe with the poker bluffing.. between that and the getting upset when Elmo hides in the sand when she's watching it with small Ben. They really changed her didn't they from moral, ditzy hippy to hard faced bitch.
