*entertaining

Gertie75 · 15/05/2019 13:59

I'm another who is glad, it was very uncomfortable viewing, JK used the same format every time winding guests up and pushing them as far as he could then switching to good cop and calming them down.

He was more than happy to accept praise if the show had actually helped someone and would parade them again to gain adoration so he should also accept blame for the bad.

Theknacktoflying · 15/05/2019 14:03

Off key ... but the JK show replaced a very similar show ... what was it called and who was that slimeball presenter ???

The public’s attitude to watching these modern bear bating programmes has thankfully changed. Wish JK show was pulled on moral grounds but I think it was a purely financial, arse-covering decision ...

Theknacktoflying · 15/05/2019 14:06

Robert Kilroy Silk ...

Sweetpea55 · 15/05/2019 14:07

JK.. An odious bullying little man.
I seem to think Jerry Springer never screamed in people's faces.
Im glad it's been taken off.. It was cringing to watch

bibbitybobbityyhat · 15/05/2019 14:08

Good.

And Love Island is being scrapped ... when?

PuppyMonkey · 15/05/2019 14:09

It does make me wonder if that whole TV genre where people are bullied or humiliated for the larks can survive much longer now.

Lord Sugar, Simon Cowell, Dragons’ Den etc. Is someone having a word with them before one of their participants doesn’t take being shouted at very well?

DuckWillow · 15/05/2019 14:13

The show has always been on dodgy ground with regards to the lie detector tests as they are notoriously in unreliable. If this man has committed suicide and left a note citing the lie detector test then ITV can expect a call from the coroner.

Kyle is vile to people who fail them. It would be interesting to know how he treated this man.

DuckWillow · 15/05/2019 14:14

Generally those on Dragons Den etc are not vulnerable socially or mentally. The risks are much lower.

M3lon · 15/05/2019 14:17

I am so very glad.

Its the lie detector tests I couldn't cope with. Those things are about 75% accurate (at best - and I doubt JK could be considered the best) so a full quarter of the people being yelled at and abused and hissed and booed by the audience were actually innocent and had their lives/relationships destroyed by the show.

Absolute bunch of fuckers.

SuperSara · 15/05/2019 14:18

ALL reality TV should be binned.

It appeals to the lowest common denominator (lowest intelligence) and preys on their insecurities and lack of awareness.

Ban it all.

Sarah22xx · 15/05/2019 14:18

Good, they need to get rid of love island too now

I think it's weird. Has it escaped everyone's attention that modern television is crass

I like Talking Pictures TV and Forces TV Watching those is a reminder of how great telly and the dramas made back in the day used to be.

Cant stand reality TV Seeing an adult man in a nappy last Saturday on Bradleys Guest List and the rest of that show plus JK Loose Women et al shows how low ITV has sunk Was at my parents on Saturday and we were watching a decent film Voyage of the Damned on Talking Pics TV (DM got outvoted) That finished at 9.45pm. DM insisted on having her default channel on after that and thats when i couldnt bellieve what i was seeing Bradley Walsh and co. doing!!!!!!!!! ITV have got major problems if they really think these shows are entertainment.

I don't actually care much for GBBO, but I think that's a bit harsh.

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 15/05/2019 14:31

This really is great news, but so sad it had to be under these circumstances.

Awful show.

Jeremy Kyle is an arrogant, narcissistic, self absorbed bully and it's about time he wasn't rewarded for being so. I don't feel sorry for him AT ALL, as some of his reality TV star chums seem to be. Poor old Jezza! Angry

HelenaDove · 15/05/2019 14:31

JK replaced Trisha which replaced Vanessa.

HelenaDove · 15/05/2019 14:34

@PuppyMonkey we live in a bullying culture. its become normalized. It is NOT a decent way to behave yet these reality shows depict it regularly.

HelenaDove · 15/05/2019 14:36

Kilroy Silk was on BBC1 years ago while ITV had The Time The Place. Both shows were more like debates.

PuppyMonkey · 15/05/2019 14:42

Yes I remember the “topical debate” programmes, they were much better.

Mind you, these days I prefer to watch endless repeats of Fraser if the telly is on in the morning.Grin

Yeah....DIY SOS. The way that Nick Knowles turns up with a whole load of tradesmen and start converting the house so the disabled person can carry on living at home. It's absolutely appalling.

HelenaDove · 15/05/2019 14:45

Although it did make me giggle when The Time The Place spent a whole half hour show slagging off More magazine for their Position of the Fortnight and sex articles.

spursheaven · 15/05/2019 15:03

Jeremy Kyle one suicide and off air

Why is love island? Still on ???

Ban it on what authority?
